My 91 year old Mom has been a resident at Bellevue Village at Woodstock for over a year and a half now. The facilities are clean and the meals are nutritious. It has a comfortable atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Mom's rent includes meals & snacks, apartment cleaning, laundry as well as primary care Doctor visits when needed, podiatrists and hair stylists. My siblings and I who all live in different parts of the country have peace of mind knowing that Mom is in a safe community that cares for her. There was a stretch of time when there was a lack of entertainment and activities for the residents but the new Executive Director Ginger Laprise has improved on that greatly. There are now activities and entertainment to keep Mom engaged and happy. Communication between Bellevue and me and my siblings is excellent.<br>6/12/26 update. Ginger is no longer there, her replacement Brooke has now left after a short time. My mother’s main caregiver Samantha left. No new communication with whoever took over as director or is whoever caring for my Mom. Ginger used to send photos of Mom doing activities via texts, no one does that now.

I visited and toured five different assisted living facilities in the Woodstock area before choosing Bellevue Village at Woodstock for a dear family friend who has no local relatives. From the moment I walked through the front door, I was treated like a friend. No high-pressure sales pitches trying to convince me on why I should choose this place. . . .just warm, friendly, caring, compassionate people who asked about my needs and actually listened to what I said. They bent over backward to work with me and to make the move-in and transition of my friend as smooth as possible. All things being equal, I think the price is better than the other facilities I looked at. I visit Bellevue Village every day, not only to see my friend, but also to visit the staff and other residents, all of whom I have come to know and care about. Other than an occasional complaint about the food, I've never heard anything but positive comments from the residents. I visit the facility at different times of the day and the quality of care, attentiveness, and cleanliness have always been consistently high. All the staff I've met there seem to really like their jobs and the people they care for. As people age, isolation is common and of great concern for those we love. The Bellevue staff always encourage residents to engage with others through shared mealtimes, activities (I like the ice cream socials the best!), and local outings. It's a warm and inviting place. The executive director, Brook Kenney, is one of the most approachable and friendly people I've ever met at an organization. She seems to genuinely care about each and every resident in her care and for humanity in general--a trait I see less and less of the older I get. I don't think anyone truly wants to go to assisted living or put a loved one in assisted living--it's a difficult decision. But if I ever have to go into assisted living--hopefully not for another 20 years or so--Bellevue Village at Woodstock is where I would choose to go.
