Finding the right care for a rapidly declining parent is one of the most painful and urgent things a family can face.

My mother, Maryann, had been in assisted living for several years, but as her Alzheimer’s progressed rapidly, I knew I needed to find a place that could truly meet her where she was. More than anything, I wanted her to have tenderness, dignity, and comfort in her final chapter.

We were so blessed to find that place at Bella Vita Assisted Living at Cholla.

Laura Cohen, the owner, made what felt like an impossible transition feel less overwhelming. She guided me through the process with extraordinary compassion, coordinated with Hospice of the Valley, and made sure everything my Mom needed was in place before she even arrived. In the midst of my fear and grief, Laura brought calm, clarity, and reassurance.

My Mom had reached a stage where she was refusing to eat, drink, and take her medications, absolutely one of the most heartbreaking places a family can find themselves. Jel, Nick, Ana, Eisen, and Ginalyn met her exactly where she was, with patience, respect, and unwavering dignity. They never stopped caring about her comfort.

My mother loved looking out of the window, and the caregivers recalled me mentioning that and moved her bed by the window, so simple that meant so much to her. They paid attention to her not just her needs, but the little things that brought her comfort.

When my Mom passed away, she was not alone. One of her caregivers was right there beside her.

As her daughter, I could not be present every hour. However, the warmth, attentiveness, and compassion of this team gave me the confidence to go home, rest, and return the next day with something left to give my Mom. That is a gift I will never forget.

If you are a family standing where I was standing, exhausted, heartbroken, and desperately hoping to find somewhere truly good. I want you to know that real, human, dignified care exists.

My Mom found it at Bella Vita.

And so did I.

With deepest gratitude,

Sharon and family
