About Aunt Dottie's Place

Aunt Dottie's Place 2 is a small residential care home in a quiet neighborhood in Orangevale, California, part of a set of homes also serving Roseville and the surrounding Sacramento County area. The community offers personalized elderly care, memory support, and assisted living services in a home-like, non-medical residential setting rather than a large institutional facility.

Each home cares for no more than six residents at a time, allowing staff to tailor care plans to each person's individual needs, strengths, and preferences. Upon move-in, residents and families share information about likes, dislikes, and lifestyle goals, which is used to build a personalized support plan.

Care is designed for seniors who need help with daily activities but do not require 24/7 skilled medical attention from a nurse or doctor, bridging the gap between independent living and nursing home care. The community supports residents through various stages of memory loss and dementia, as well as other age-related health needs.

The setting is described as a real home in a residential neighborhood, with amenities that include a backyard and outdoor pool used for family visits and gatherings. Group activities, including singalong sessions, are part of daily life, along with nutritious meals prepared for residents.

Aunt Dottie's Place is run by owners who are described as attentive to residents' medication management, hygiene, and coordination with visiting nurses and physicians, with attention extending to end-of-life and hospice care needs as required.

I had my mom in a larger memory care but realized she needed more attention than the larger memory care could offer. They have no more than 6 tenants and the care is definitely more tailored to suit the individual needs of each individual. Mom isn’t getting lost in the larger memory care. If she refuses to eat or to take her meds, the caregivers are very patient and they try again. Dementia is a cruel disease. I feel like the caregivers here treat my mom with the dignity and respect that is often lost in larger facilities. My mom’s room is always clean. Her bedding is changed often - we had issues with this at the larger facility. I am thankful to have been referred to Aunt Dottie’s Place.

Salam and the team at Aunt Dottie’s are very respectful and professional. They have treated my mother will care since she arrived and have given me peace in knowing she is safe. As she has late stage dementia, this matter is extreme important to our family, and we are grateful for Aunt Dottie’s care.

My family will be forever grateful for Aunt Dottie's place. After my dad was suddenly diagnosed with aggressive cancer, we were unable to take care of him at home because of his significant needs. The owners and caregivers at Aunt Dottie's are truly incredible. They treat residents like their own family and we really trusted they would care for our dad and make the best decisions for him. They warmly welcomed our family and were so kind, even going out of their way to make cookies for my daughters when they visited and letting them swim in the pool. The owners are very professional but they are also caring and compassionate, something our family really needed during such a hard time. They guided us during every step of the way and made themselves available at all hours of the day when needed. You can tell this is more than a job for them. They truly care and put their resident's needs first. We toured several other Board and Care homes in the area, and none of them came close to the level of care and professionalism as Aunt Dottie's. We highly recommend Aunt Dottie's to anyone who needs care for a loved one.

Aunt Dotties is a wonderful niche that not many would anticipate to find. As an ICU nurse and family of nurses, we understand there are many aspects to wellness, and levels of care that we learn we need to lean into for our loved ones as they age. After assisted living could no longer keep up with my grandmother's increasing medical needs and she was note benefiting from the social aspects that community living provided, we debated in home care that required 24-7 attendance. Unfortunately that would not be sustainable for extended time, potentially years. Realizing our own limitations and the truth of what that would require, the daunting task of how to provide that care became very stressful. Board and Care often gets a bad wrap and I was (very) nervous at first. I was pleasantly surprised after just a few visits. The home was kept VERY clean (no typical smell) they are more aware of individual needs and preferences, and give more personalized care and flexible with our visits. The back yard is beautiful (perfect for mini picnics and the easter egg hunt we did with her Great grand-daughters), the staff is kind and patient, and the owners genuinely care. I would highly recommend Aunt Dottie's Place for those that need this niche care, like having another home just for your aging loved ones care. They will take care of your loved ones needs during these tough stages.

My dad has been living at Aunt Dottie’s Place for about two years now, and I’m grateful for the care he’s received. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely seems to care about his well-being. He’s getting much better care here than he was able to get at home, and it gives me peace of mind knowing he’s in a safe and supportive environment. Overall, I would recommend Aunt Dottie’s Place to others who are looking for compassionate and reliable care for their loved ones.
