Readers of this review know all too well that potentially placing a family member in a care facility is a decision of utmost importance. Family is placing their highest level of trust in the hands of the caregivers, nursing staff, and ultimately the management. Our experience at this facility was less than desirable. I unequivocally echo the sentiment expressed previously by other reviewers, and when multiple individuals are expressing common concerns and feelings about the level of care at the facility, there is genuine reason to reconsider placement here. Take note all interested parties! Visitors with experience in the healthcare field and familiar with local facilities raised similar concerns to us and highly recommended a move for our family member. Based on ongoing observations and interactions with staff, these seasoned healthcare workers shared that the facility would be low on their recommended list.

In addition to numerous concerns about the actual caregiving, which previous reviewers have addressed, here are some other thoughts to consider:

Care plan adherence, caregiver staffing requirements, medication administration, cleanliness of apartments are just a few topics that we tried to address with no genuine resolutions with management staff. The cornerstone operating principles of the facility are conceal and cover-up.

Residents have few opportunities to develop a feeling of connectedness with staff (including management, nurses, CNA’s, care staff, custodial, etc.). Some reasons for this lack of shared camaraderie include: management staff appear disinterested in interacting with residents, caregivers are instructed by management to limit interactions with residents, and staff turnover is higher than necessary. When changes in key staffing occur, there no longer are introductory letters or bios shared as it appears that management prefers to keep knowledge regarding staff turnover at a minimum, thus affecting any sense of community-building efforts in the facility.

The activity staff lack a sense of vibrancy, energy, and interest in planning for the inclusion of all residents in activities, which is such an important and necessary job skill for building community among residents. A tour of other facilities by current activity staff is absolutely necessary in order to observe models of creativeness with themes, methods for building engagement, and communication with residents’ families.

Employees who share positive ratings through the Google review format are recognized with a response and the reviews are retained, however less glowing reviews by employees are promptly removed. There is an inconsistency in facility policy regarding employees doing reviews, and more importantly, it should be disclosed for transparency purposes that these ratings/reviews were, in fact, provided by staff members.

Overall, there are facilities that have much higher standards for caregiving as well as a genuine concern for resident satisfaction. If you truly care about quality, honesty and transparency within a care facility, then you’d be best to look elsewhere.
If you are reading this, you know and understand how emotional it is to place a loved one outside of their respective home. 2 days ago we as a family had made this kind of decision for our 90 yr. Old mom. She lived in the home dad and her purchased 67 yrs. ago. They raised 3 children it was the only home she has known.
Until this past Thursday, I speak for my brothers as well, The Aspire team has been amazing. We all felt like mom was royalty being greeted into her new home.
We have received updates each day. We as a family feel as cared for as our mom in this decision.
Thank you!!
Lynn Rennert
Our loved one resided at the Aspire Oshkosh facility for a period of time, and unfortunately, our experience was one of sheer disillusionment. The attractive building and surrounding grounds provide a misleading visual impression as once we experienced the inner workings within the facility over time, we arrived at a vastly different opinion. There exists an atmosphere of superiority and indifference, mainly by the leadership team (and under the direction of regional personnel) who seem lacking in knowledge and compassion for the senior population that they are intended to serve. Across all departments, attention to professionalism is needed both in handling concerns with honesty and integrity as well as respectful interactions with residents and their families. Surface-level appearances appear to be important while quality of care and resident satisfaction are less important.

If a facility is well-managed, then residents and their families should feel a sense of true collaboration with staff members in order to bring about improvement and positive change. Rather, when this writer provided input and feedback, staff became defensive or there was a disingenuous response meant simply to appease and deflect conversation. This is definitely not reflective of a responsive, caring, or resident-centered approach as is paramount in a senior living community.

From the initial tour and extending into the first few months of residency, there was a pattern of disinformation and deception as to facility practices and policies, and more importantly, care for our loved one. Over time, this pattern continued; examples include inconsistent attention to hygiene, care plans, and fall/injury response and a general lack of communication that jeopardized our loved one’s health. In addition, there was frequent understaffing and inadequate training as well as a lack of expectations and accountability which raised serious safety risks. Many questions surfaced regarding the timeliness, accuracy, and transparency of medication administration. Then, more concerns with the apartment not being cleaned weekly per contract, laundry often not returned within a reasonable time frame, and clothing items sent off to laundry room went missing. There was an inconsistent flow of necessary care supplies, a lack of appropriate activities along with the inclusivity of residents in activities, employees lounging in common areas meant for residents, etc. Many more examples could be shared.

After attempting to communicate through surveys, e-mails, texts, and phone calls as well as in-person conversations and the on-site suggestion box, very little changed. At times, our attempts with e-mails and phone calls went unanswered. Furthermore, our conversations with residents in the various living arrangements (independent living, assisted living, memory care), indicated that our concerns were not isolated concerns. Rather, they reflected larger, facility-wide issues that compromised safety, well-being, and respect among the residents and their families. To be crystal clear, multiple attempts were made over time with various staff to convey concerns and issues…to no avail.

As with everything else, the responses to poor reviews provided here by the facility are for appearances only, so take note if you are thinking of touring this facility. A recent reply was posted by the facility that there is “sincere concern to bring swift resolutions to matters”. However, it’s all about quantity (i.e., filling the rooms to bring in money) versus any sort of quality experience here. Sadly, there is a blatant disregard for attention to meeting residents’ needs and providing high quality care which the residents so deserve.

Note: Think carefully and question the authenticity of glowing reviews that immediately follow honest reviews reflective of the actual experiences expressed about the facility.
Aspire Senior Living in Oshkosh has provided an absolutely outstanding experience for our family. The move-in process was smooth, well-organized, and made what could have been a stressful transition feel easy and welcoming.

The caregiving staff in memory care are exceptional—compassionate, attentive, and truly dedicated to the residents. The nursing care is equally impressive, ensuring that daily needs like showers, bedding, and laundry are handled with consistency and respect.

The food is excellent, with a variety of options that cater to different preferences, which has made a big difference in overall satisfaction. Most importantly, our family member is genuinely happy. The activities and events offered keep residents engaged, social, and looking forward to each day.

We are incredibly grateful for the level of care and attention provided at Aspire Senior Living. It brings peace of mind knowing our loved one is in such a supportive and positive environment.
