I live in the Village for 3.5. Years. The staff the food is amazing. The grounds are park like with squirrels and ducks and crows abound. Weekly entertainment is a genuine asset. Daily activities are free for the community transportation to your doctor is also available as well as weekly outings to local grocery stores and other places to buy clothing or pet supplies. Personal Notary services are available by one of the residents. If you still can drive. Parking spaces available. Pets are welcome.

I recently visited my mom for the day I took her out shopping and after we came back we had lunch and I must say it was so enjoyable. From the moment we sat down the welcome from the dining staff was warm and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the salmon entree and winter arugula salad, the fish was so tender and flavorful. But what I noticed more so is that the Chef came out and walked around talking to everyone, there were hugs, hand holding and lots of laughing which to me shows how close she is with the residents which made me feel so happy that my mom has someone like that when I can’t be here, I see she is cared for. I wanted to share my experience

I recently attended Carmel Village's Open House and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was! The landscaping is beautiful with lots of areas to be outside, the variety of 1 bedroom options were great, the buffet food was delicious but maybe most importantly was how welcoming the staff was and how happy the residents were! The Marketing Director took me on a thorough tour, explaining that they also offer Memory Care and I left feeling this is where I would have my Dad move if he relocates in California. Carmel Village is a wonderful community with lots of options!

If you are in ideal health; and fit and able as a 30 year old, Carmel Village could work for you. But if you want working elevators and would like at least adequate care; and would like more activities than basically bingo, stay way from Carmel Village. Additionally, meals here are less than satisfactory. An UPDATE to my review: fairly recently, the staff here has tried to improve this place a lot; they have succeeded admirably. The courtyard has added more concrete areas, which are easier to traverse; the activities staff has added more entertainment, social gatherings, and presentations , as well as some classes, which are really pleasurable; the holiday decorations are really imaginative for all holidays; and the dining staff is trying very hard: the food overall is much better, and serving staff try to be prompt and professional! The grounds are open and lovely, and kept up well!

I would highly recommend Carmel Village as a place to receive excellent care for your loved one. My mom has been at Carmel Village for 8 years, the past 5 in Memory Care so I have personally experienced the amazing loving care they provide. Over the last year the Memory Care executives have focused on building a new, stronger foundation by expanding and reinforcing more specialized programs in activities, exercise, direct care regimens and so much more! Laura Sanchez, Health & Wellness Director/Nurse is phenomenal in listening to family members needs and looking at the "unique" needs of each individual. Laura does everything in her power to ensure that she and the staff meets both the family and loved one's needs. Lastly, we all know those "unique" needs constantly change and Laura opens up a wonderful communication channel for the family members to connect with as this new life unfolds. Thank you to Laura and the loving, caring staff for taking such good care of my mama!
