About Amedisys Home Health Care

Amedisys Home Health Care provides skilled nursing, therapy, and related services to patients in Lee's Summit, Missouri who are recovering from illness, injury, or surgery, or managing chronic health conditions at home. The interdisciplinary team includes registered nurses, home health aides, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and medical social workers, available on call 24/7 for urgent needs.

Nursing care encompasses pain management, monitoring, education, and wound care to promote healing and reduce complications. Physical therapy helps patients build strength, balance, and endurance to reduce fall risk, while occupational therapy teaches strategies for daily tasks and home modifications. Speech therapy addresses communication and swallowing difficulties, and medical social workers coordinate care and connect patients with community resources.

The organization offers specialized programs for patients with specific conditions, including heart failure management aimed at reducing symptoms and hospital visits, COPD education and support for home-based symptom management, diabetes programs combining nursing and therapy services, and fall prevention care addressing the risk factors that commonly lead to elderly falls at home.

Care plans are individualized and developed collaboratively with the patient's doctor, family, and caregivers. Initial assessments typically occur within 24 hours of discharge from a hospital or facility, and the frequency of visits is adjusted based on the patient's needs and physician recommendations. Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance plans typically cover eligible home health care services.

Mr glover was very knowledgeable and polite and answered every question I asked and I did ask a lot of questions. Always helpful and on time. And from the intake to the out processing people I can’t say enough about how thorough and considerate they were. Thank you very much.

Absolutely the best team of Home Health professionals I’ve ever worked with. Top notch staff and great communication skills to the physicians, other team members and especially keeping me informed. Bill is definitely able to stay home because of this amazing organization. Thank you, you are one in a million, so glad we found the best .!!!

I was discharged from the hospital Sunday to Amedisys hospice.I had to wait for a nurse practitioner to come see me first, I understand the reason why. However the doctor I was assigned to was already out of the office. I ran out of medication Tuesday morning and was hoping to get some relief tonight. My pharmacy is now closed and I have yet to hear from the on call nurse, let alone the doctor. I am extremely disappointed and upset!
