About Amedisys Home Health Care

Amedisys Home Health Care in Glen Burnie, Maryland provides skilled nursing, therapy and other services to help patients recover from illness, injury or surgery, as well as manage chronic health conditions. The interdisciplinary team includes registered nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists, available on-call 24/7 for urgent needs.

Nursing care includes pain management, monitoring, education and wound care. Physical therapists help patients build strength, balance and endurance to reduce fall risk. Occupational therapists teach techniques for daily tasks like bathing and eating, and can recommend home modifications. Speech therapists address communication and swallowing difficulties. Home health aides assist with personal care needs, and medical social workers coordinate care and provide counseling and referrals to local resources.

The service offers specialized programs for patients with heart failure, COPD and diabetes, as well as fall prevention services. Care is tailored to individual needs through a plan of care developed by the patient's doctor with the clinical team. Patients typically recover faster at home with fewer complications compared to facility-based care.

Treatment is based on evidence-based clinical practices and involves collaboration between the patient, family, doctor and the home health team. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans usually cover home health care for eligible patients. Initial visits are scheduled by phone, and if the patient is transitioning from a hospital or nursing facility, the first visit typically occurs within 24 hours of discharge.

I was fortunate to be able to be cared for by a wonderful nurse and physical therapist. Their positivity helped me get back to my new normal. They were always alerting my doctors to changes in my health condition that n needed to be addressed Thank you for providing what I needed and helping my health journey

I didn't have a pleasant experience with them at all while caring for my mother they lied said she was coming to visit and didn't never call to let us know she wasn't then the nurse gave my mother too much of her medication which sent her to the Emergency Room the next day I lost confidence going forward of how my mother would be taken care of my mother's everything to me. I could not take a chance of staying with this company. We had to part ways for the safety of my mother.

My pt. was outstanding getting me ready to walk independently and navigate my stairs. The nurse that came initiallywas not. They came out only 3 times with the discharge nurse the best.

Our nurse and physical therapist were both amazing. My mom was well taken care of. You could tell that both ladies loved their jobs and helping people. Which I am finding rare in the hospitals, as of lately.

This agency is extremely connected. All of the staff members; Sandy, (Social worker)Tara,( physical therapist) ,Connie, (Nurse) and (Occupational therapist), Jacqueline were exceptional! They spoke so highly of each other. I was amazed as to how much they cared for both my husband, the patient as well as myself. All took so much pride in doing their best to restore my husband's life, to encourage him, listen to him and bring the best out of him. They are amazing gifted women! The staff at the office were also on top of their game from being responsive to my calls and given me immediate attention when we needed it! They too had this wonderful team connection. I have never experienced a group of positive people who worked so well together! Thank you everyone 😁 Y'all were God sent! Bless you all!
