A very professional company. They are very strict with their nurses and aides. They ensure their aides and nurses do their jobs thoroughly, ethically, respectfully and professionally. Everything they do is well documented. While this keeps them very professional and skilled at what they do, as well as very informed on your condition, sometimes it can feel overbearing all the strict rules, questions, oversight and supervision. However it is for a good cause and they mean well. They are a 5 star company in regards to nursing, homemaking and hha services with their aides. There's just excessive paperwork and red tape, however you are well assured you are taken excellent care of. I only gave 4 stars on my 5 star rating due to one disadvantage of being through Advantage. That is they can not pick up any medications at all, not only controlled substances, their aides do not transport clients anywhere whatsoever, neither do they handle debit cards or cash, meaning they can only pickup prepaid grocery orders, and they can only make one errand run per week, and will not do restaurant pickups hardly, even if it's prepaid, and any errands they run they first call the office to obtain permission. This doesn't take away from their many other top notch services, however for many clients, we do not have family who can help us get to appointments, (advantage will allow an aide to attend an appointment if you can ride public transit) or family who will go to the store for us to go in and shop using our card, and many of our pharmacies do not offer delivery, as well as not having others who will pick up for us if we order from a restaurant. These policies in this digital, fast paced society are draconian and prehistoric, and in dire need of updating. It is expensive having to pay fees on having groceries, restaurant food and our other necessities delivered, (in my case nearly $100 a month in tips, fees, convenience charges, online markup and membership fees) which is an unnecessary convenience for a disabled, low income, non able bodied, assistance requiring, home health receiving, often elderly, often always alone individual without a car who doesn't drive, who often has mobility issues. They can't even take our debit card to get us quarters to do laundry with, and in my case, costs me an extra $0.25 per wash and dry as a "convenience fee" to use my debit card. Please do not misunderstand me. Advantage, when it comes to nursing services, and aides doing homemaking and hha services, they have the best company out there. You will find no better, kinder, professional, educated, informed, caring and hardworking office workers, schedules, nurses and aides at any other company. Also if you require medication setup or assistance taking medications, their nurses do not offer this. But if you primarily only need basic nurse services, homemaking, hha and/or pa services and not the other assistance they don't offer, advantage is your best choice and I highly recommend them. Myself and my mother both receive care from this company, and what services they do offer, we both are well pleased with how well they do their job.
