I requested Above and Beyond to provide hospice for my mother because they had provided such exceptional care for my grandmother 8 years earlier. I now regret that decision with every fiber of my being. First, they allowed my mother to have large doses of narcotics and benzodiazepines whenever she asked for them knowing that it’s a deadly combination. My mother was a difficult patient and I truly believe that the nursing home encouraged this in order to control my mother’s behaviors. Second, they made minimal contact with my mother outside of approving her veritable cornucopia of pharmaceuticals on a weekly basis. Finally, when my mother did pass, the call I received was as follows: “Um, yeah. The nursing home just called and your mom did pass.” That was it. No empathy. No compassion. No attempt to make sure I was in a suitable place to receive such information. And I’ve heard nothing since. Nothing.

I do not believe Above and Beyond is what it use to be. The nurses seemed short on time and supplies. The people we interacted with seemed like they wanted to care but did not have the time. We needed special supplies for my father and when we asked, we were made to feel as if we were asking too much. The once a week visits from the nurse were not enough. When we told the staff about the rapid deterioration of my father's condition it was met with a shrug. We switched to Mercy Hospice and experienced the dignity and respect my father and family deserved and the help we desperately needed.

Above & Beyond has offered the upmost in professional and compassionate services for my Mother. I could not have asked for a better home health service, and now hospice care. In time of need, uncertainty and sickness, they do exactly what they say… they go Above & Beyond, not only for the patient but they have always offered me a shoulder to cry on, a word of encouragement and they are always available to me 24/7. And a special shout out to my team in Monticello, Iowa, thanks for all you do! Love you all!

The care of our family member by the staff of Above & Beyond is truly heartwarming and sincere in every regard. I came here from Virginia to assist with the care of my mother and I have never seen or experienced such unequaled professionalism and superior expertise by a health care staff! Never ever did I expect such excellence after seeing considerably less from where I live. Every team member from Above & Beyond was polite, considerate, knowledgeable, dependable, enthusiastic, and caring in the highest nature. They listened to the patient and to the family and stayed in constant communications regarding the care of our loved one. Our mother was always excited and happiest when JC, Connie, Linze, and Jennifer cared for her needs. I am deeply grateful for having your team assist us and for having such an amazing health care organization like Above & Beyond that we could count on! Thank you simply isn’t fitting enough for how you execute your outstanding health care programs. The people we have met at Above and Beyond regarding our Mother entering Hospice have been great. They are very knowledgeable and respectful. This is all new to our family so hearing about the care she will receive is very positive. We even had some laughs regarding the one liners our Mother has said to the nurse and social worker. Katie
