I am a senior who has a legal disabled card and placard. I live in New Jersey near Toms River. One cold night in February, along with two other seniors stopped for something to eat. I made the mistake of not putting up my placard and received a ticket. I sent the information the very next day, apologizing for the mistake I received a letter in August telling me I had to appear on October 9th at 2:45 in the afternoon. I then sent each Judge a certified letter appealing for their sense of justice. I do not work and live off my social security, no response! The clerk there was very cold and just said, "you were guilty, you forgot to put up your placard" REALLY!! They call this Justice Court, where is the justice? I sent in a check but I had to post date it as I do not receive my social security check till the third Wednesday of the month. They are literally taking money that would go to food and housing expense.

Anissa slade was very dismissive, rude and unwilling to help over the phone. Basic customer service skills are the bare minimum requirements for these sort of jobs and she lacks in that department. The lack of professionalism made it very difficult to get the support I needed. Reading other reviews lets me know, she’s is indeed the issue as well as the court for not doing anything about it. We all can’t be wrong. She seems like the common denominator here. And she’s getting away with this disgusting behavior because the court has allowed her to do so. She will continue to speak down on clients as she has not received any consequences for her actions. Not only did she hang up on me but she refused to give me her name. No surprise there. If she hates her job so much, she should look elsewhere and do everyone a favor. But lastly, shame on the court for having someone with such terrible demeanor be the face of the court.

8/19/2025 1053am I called to find out information so that I can fix my license and handle this quickly as I just moved back to Long Island. The lady that was working there was extremely rude and unprofessional. Her tone was condescending and nasty. Hung up the phone on me for telling her “you see that information was helpful so it’s not that you didn’t have another option”. Why be upset when someone is telling you about yourself ? Also it’s completely irrational to have someone travel 5 hrs one way on train to pay for tickets. If I’m pleading guilty let me pay online !

Absolutely horrible. Extremely long wait times just to pay after you’ve seen the judge, as the clerks sit around and relax. Disorganized system. Appeared to court a week in advance to avoid suspension as the notice stated and was told I couldn’t pay or do anything by the clerk. You have to come on a Monday when court is in session, which the notice does not tell you. The next Monday was Memorial Day and court was not rescheduled that week, so had no choice but for my license to be suspended. I mention when in court they say we have no record of you being here. Staff is rude. Do yourself a favor and don’t get a ticket in Ardsley!

Extremely Unfair Experience – Lack of Professionalism and Due Process I’m leaving this review based on a July 2021 traffic ticket that I heard nothing about for over two years. Then suddenly, I received a court notice dated April 23, postmarked April 24, and delivered to my mailbox on Saturday, April 26, for a court date on May 5. The notice stated that any written adjournment had to be submitted by April 28—which was impossible, as I was dealing with medical issues and didn’t see the notice until May 1. I immediately emailed the court with a detailed explanation, as I had been instructed to do by another staff member the Friday before when the clerk was not in. However, when I called back on May 5, the court clerk refused to give her name, and condescendingly repeated that my license would just be suspended because I wasn’t appearing—completely ignoring the good-faith effort I had made to resolve the issue. I also explained that I had requested a supporting deposition three times since 2021, with no response. Under New York Criminal Procedure Law § 100.25(2), a supporting deposition must be provided within 30 days of the request. Failure to do so renders the accusatory instrument defective and may be grounds for dismissal under CPL § 170.30(1)(a). I raised this concern, yet it was disregarded without explanation. The lack of fairness, compassion, and accountability in this process is unacceptable. No one should be threatened with license suspension due to a last-minute notice and a clerk unwilling to assist. This court needs serious administrative oversight. It becomes a serious concern when multiple reviews are about the same pattern of poor communication, last-minute notices, and unprofessional conduct—this is clearly not an isolated incident.
