The team is great. Care givers are great. My mom was VERY reluctant to have care givers in, but after a day or two she was very happy and comfortable with the care givers. The Abingdon office is very responsive and truly found the right caregiver match for my mom.

My family is still comparison-shopping, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say that Visiting Angels Abingdon was COMPLETELY transparent about their pricing and fees during their free in-home consultation. It is so reassuring you will not be hit with surprise fees once you have signed up. And there is no contract; there is an agreement. They would like a modest amount of notice if you no longer need their service.

Visiting Angels has been an incredible support system for me and my family during a time when we were trying to navigate so many unknowns. Their team is not only professional, but also genuinely compassionate. They are persistent in making sure everything is handled properly, and their communication is always clear, timely, and reassuring. It truly made a difference knowing we could rely on them every step of the way. Most importantly, the care they provide to their patients is heartfelt and attentive. You can tell they truly care about the well-being and comfort of those they serve. We are so grateful for their dedication and highly recommend Visiting Angels to anyone in need of quality, compassionate care.

We used Visiting Angels for the care of our mom to help her stay in her home as she wished. She was staffed 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. We were lucky that she usually had the same caregivers on a regular basis so she felt at ease that they knew her routine. They were each kind and conscientious. The office staff was quickly responsive to any concerns or scheduling glitches or changes. We would highly recommend this agency.

As a registered nurse who has worked with elderly, dementia and hospice patients, I was extremely disappointed in this location of visiting angels. You need to understand that Visiting Angels is a franchise. So while the name may hold clout, this particular franchise is poorly run and I would not recommend them to anyone. My first interaction was with Karen Glynn who's family owns this franchise. She was lovely in person and sweet with my mom. My mom has dementia and we needed 12hrs a week care and companionship. Unfortunately, it went down hill from there. The first caregiver used a cane and struggled to get around. My mom has a small dog and walks all over the place, this was evident on her evaluation. This first caregiver basically sat in a chair watched TV and bossed mom around and couldn't walk with her and the dog. The second caregiver worked with mom for several months but early on she started to text me on my personal phone and it became a constant thing. I wasn't aware they aren't to contact you personally, which would have been helpful to know, apparently I was supposed to let them know she contacted me. She contacted my mom personally as well to see if she could bring her son over during her shift. There were lots of call offs, lots of last minute, day of changes to moms caregiver staffing. Mom has had at least a dozen different faces in her year with visiting angels. I got constant calls while at work to these changes. Mom would call and say certain caregivers were on their phones the whole time. One woukd write in her daily notes how poor the parking was and how they were clocking in late. My mother lives at Oakcrest. Another was a no show after working with Mom a few weeks and just quit. I talked with Karen after several caregivers and problems about my displeasure with the care and services. Things were not getting done that were on our task list. Mind you my mom didn't need a lot, I can't imagine if she did. My last conversation with Karen, she recommended I get cameras to keep an eye on the caregivers, really? She also assured me she would make it her mission to do better and right by my mom. That did not happen and I emailed canceling services, guess what I got back....... nothing at all. Not even an acknowledgement that the services weren't working and causing more distress then help. They will say they always had a warm body to fill the shift, if that is what you are looking for then you might be ok. But if you're looking for good care, this is not the place. To give you an idea of what my mom needed, someone to provide companionship, some light cleaning alongside her, reminders because of dementia, someone to go for a walk with her and her dog and make sure she got down to the dining hall. And the trash and recycle needed put right outside her door. Not a whole lot. So very disappointed and discouraged.
