Over Memorial Weekend, my husband Tony and I had the pleasure of visiting my father-in-law, Adolfo Ennver, who currently resides at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, South Carolina. We stayed for 3 days visiting him, and I wanted to take the time to recognize the wonderful care and compassion we witnessed during our stay.
First, I want to thank Head Nurse Ms. Kia and CNA Mr. Desmond for the amazing care they provide to my father-in-law, who is a proud veteran. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and reassured that our loved one was in good hands.

One thing I immediately appreciated was the security of the facility. There is plenty of parking, and when entering the lobby, visitors must be buzzed in. I truly liked that they do not allow just anyone to walk in from the streets. It gave us peace of mind knowing our loved ones are safe and protected.

Ms. Kia was kind, professional, and took the time to update us on my father-in-law’s condition and daily care. It meant a lot to our family to see someone who genuinely cares about the residents.

Mr. Desmond was also outstanding. He helps my father-in-law get ready for his day by making sure he is cleaned up, changed, comfortable, and well cared for. His patience, compassion, and dedication do not go unnoticed. Caring for the elderly is not easy work, and it takes a special person to do it with dignity and kindness.

I was also impressed with the facility itself. They provide meals, snacks when allowed, medications, and have many wonderful amenities including a kitchen, cafeteria, dining room, art room, barber shop for the veterans, showers, and bathrooms throughout the hallways. There were plenty of comfortable chairs, recliners, and rocking chairs where families can sit and spend quality time with their loved ones.

My father-in-law is in a wheelchair, yet he seems very comfortable navigating throughout the facility. What touched my heart most was seeing how well known and loved he is by the nurses and CNA staff. You can tell the staff truly care about the veterans living there.

Thank you to everyone at Veterans Victory House for looking out for our veterans and for treating them with respect, dignity, and compassion. Our veterans are NOT forgotten, and the care you provide truly matters to families like ours.

Your facility gets 5 stars from me and my husband Tony. Please continue the excellent work you do every single day for our veterans.

— Maria E. & Tony

Visited my husband’s uncle who resides here. I won’t be able to speak for the care of the residents, but the service was nice for our family. We had a group of 10 people come to visit and the staff was kind enough to allow us to use the chapel so we could enjoy our time privately and uninterrupted. The facility was clean and welcoming. Many areas of the residents to congregate and socialize. Our uncle had his lunch while we visited, and it looked tasty. I love that the staff takes more pride in their jobs versus other nursing facilities I’ve seen. You get a sense of respect and gratitude from the staff for serving the service men and women of our country.

My uncle was there for 1 1/2 years. Compassionate staff. He recently passed away and the staff showed a lot of care during a very difficult time.

The ENTIRE staff at the Victory House are some of the most compassionate caregivers I’ve ever met. They treat all of their residents with dignity, patience and understanding. This can certainly be the beacon for all other long care facilities.
