My Mom was at Maplewood Assisted Living and Skilled nursing areas. My family was most appreciative of the wonderful care she received.

I can only say that with my father here for the third time in 8 years, and me here a good 12 hours a day, I have seen nothing but care and compassion. Each patient is treated with respect and patience. There may be staffing issues as others have commented, but I have not noticed. This is extremely difficult work both physically and emotionally. I commend those who do these Important jobs and have not seen any resident in any sort of need or neglect. Having seen other facilities, the North Country is lucky to have this one.

My father went to Maplewood for rehab on 4/6 and is still there. He was first put in Room 210 in acute care dementia wing as a holding spot to move to rehab wing the following Tuesday. Come to find out, he couldn’t move until Thursday due to an oversight. While in Birch, he was never showered or thoroughly washed up each day/ night, no one came when he pushed help button so often had accidents so they put him in a diaper without consent. He sat in a wet diaper all night until 9:30 AM when his wife helped him clean up and change ! Also, he did not have several meals brought to him because “ someone told the staff that family would be bringing all meals! “ Not one of us said anything about bringing in all his food. The food was quite disgusting and often raw! I was finally able to get my father a shower on Wednesday night before he moved to Beech on Thursday- thanks to a hard worker named Lily! She was upset no one had washed him up or showered him at all during the week he was there. One day, I was with my father from 9 AM until 6:30 pm then my sister came to visit as well. During that time, an older women was seated on the couch outside my father’s room with just her nightshirt on. She sat there the entire time while the aides and nurses walked by her without even acknowledging her. She was never taken to eat any meals, did not go to the bathroom and did not move from that seat until an aide came around 7 and told her it was time for bed! She had no care at all that day and was just being put back into bed. I asked the nurse about it and she said she’d look into it. Nothing happened. Thus far, at Beech, my father was brought to meals very late 4 x and nothing was left for him to eat. They have “ run out” of the menu item my father ordered for either breakfast or dinner 3 x while he sat for over an hour waiting to be served. My father’s PT/ OT services are minimal for a man who needs help getting back home. I am disgusted with the rudeness, lack of care, laziness and plain neglect at Maplewood. It’s shameful! Do better!!

They deserve a minus! I was there once and care was just ok...no empathy. My husband was there for his rehab BUT they were not caring. They put diapers on him without his consent. He was so upset.I cried. Staff needs empthatic training. He finally was able to move to St Joseph’s where he was so happy he wanted us to move there
