First of all when I was admitted to ST. PETE'S hospital with staph from a hip replacement which all hardware had to be remove and cleaned, tissue as well. The case manager came in with 3 options for rehab. I knew nothing about any on the list so I did 1, 2, 3. #1 was the Three Rivers Care. Later that evening and the following day I was told by many friends to choose Sharon Care. I relayed that to the case manager, who ignored me for days. When she finally came to my room days later I said I want to go to Sharon Care she answered that at 1st they Accepted me then denied me. And since I chose Three Rivers then I should go there. She said it would take time having to resubmit to Sharon Care and there wasn't enough time because I was being discharged that day. An hour later I found the hospital was keeping me one more day, so I immediately called the case manager and told her now she has time to resubmit. I said, Ok... the bottom line it's the paperwork you don't want to do. She replied, my bosses said I cannot resubmit. ( Also, she admitted they denied me because Three Rivers had already beeb selected.) Off I go to Three Rivers. First of all they refused to bring me a bedside potty chair nor a walker. They said I was not to leave the bed until PT saw me. They wanted me to use a bedpan and/or a plastic bottle container with a vagina shaped mouth. I said No Way! I was walking with a walker and I will continue. I was on the phone with a friend of mine who is involved with the state who oversees rehabilitation facilities. I told this to the nurse and within 15 min. A walker and potty showed up. Then, they couldn't get my medications correct. I have a staph infection and I have to be on my antibiotics on time. They couldn't figure it out. I argued with this nurse for 6 hours and never got my meds. I was served food and it looked so disgusting I couldn't eat it. In the morning I called Sharon Care and spoke to the admittance associate. She said that I have every right to go where I want to and she made the arrangements for me to move. I was ready to go before noon and asked if someone would help me pack and get to my ride who was waiting at the front. One nurse said press the alert button and someone would be right there. 25 minutes later still Noone came. I had to pack and in a wheel chair with 2 bags and a huge box for the drain that I was carrying and get to the vehicle. They also are harboring hostage a prescription from my Dr and would not give it to me. Since I have been at Sharon Care Three Rivers are not transferring my medications list to them. This is so unprofessional. Don't go to Three Rivers! You'll be sorry. Patricia Vaughn
