Talmage Place is a 6-story apartment building built in 1927 at 14th & Van Buren by rancher and oilman H. E. Smith. It had sixty apartments. The building is still standing today as part of the Park Central Retirement Community, however when it was sold it was gutted and renovated and all the old fixtures were auctioned off. Now the only original parts of the building are the brick facades. Almost nobody knows about this iconic Amarillo landmark because it is surrounded by new "suburban" style development.
