The Heights on Valley Ranch is a senior living community in Porter, Texas offering Skilled Nursing / Long Term Care. Amenities include Restaurant style Dining Room, Gathering / Activity Spaces and Social Activities. Families rate it 4.3 out of 5 across 226 reviews.
The Heights on Valley Ranch is a skilled nursing and long-term care community in Porter, Texas, with a licensed capacity of 122 residents. The facility is modern in design, situated on wooded grounds with a pond entrance, and families note that the building is consistently clean and well-maintained.
Family experiences here are notably divided. Positive reviewers consistently highlight individual staff members, particularly nurses and LVNs like Qiana McCracken, who deliver attentive, compassionate care and go beyond standard duties for residents. Several families reported that their loved ones recovered well after hospitalization and appreciated the food quality and physical therapy services. However, a substantial segment of lower-rated reviews raises concerns about dietary accommodations, particularly for residents with post-surgical or medically restricted diets; multiple families reported that ordered dietary restrictions were not consistently followed. Additional complaints center on management interactions with staff, inconsistent evening-shift attentiveness, and room assignment practices that did not meet family requests.
The facility carries a 4.3 out of 5 rating across 226 Google reviews, reflecting this polarized feedback. Families considering placement should ask directly about dietary protocols and staffing continuity, especially for rehabilitation stays.

My mother broke her hip and after the hospital we moved her to the Heights on Valley Ranch January 1, 2026. She’s 92 and was scared to death to be left alone at night since visitors are not allowed to stay overnight. I was worried sick. When they opened the next morning I ran to her room scared to death of what I would find. And there mom was, SITTING UP ON THE SIDE OF HER BED, eating her breakfast and laughing with her roommate, Kamiko. When I asked her about the night she told me about the most wonderful nursing assistant that helped her, Essa Khan. He calmed her nerves and was so careful with her and her sensitive hip. Over the next 3 weeks I got to know Essa. He is the kindest, most caring, sweetest person I have ever met in my life. And I saw him in action dealing with upset patients. There’s something about him that calms everyone he meets. He is someone that I would like to see become a nurse. If I had the money I would pay for it myself. He is that good. I can’t put into words how much I appreciate Essa’s care. He treated everyone as if they were his grandparents. With respect and loving care.
While Essa was the standout, ALL of the employees we met were wonderful. The nurses were great, really great, and would work with the doctor to get mom the extra care that she needed. When the insurance person would call every time she would say: “ this is ______ with the Heights At Valley Ranch, don’t worry it’s not an emergency.” Because she knew that when people see the rehab calling we would think the worst. And it’s that kind of empathy I saw over and over again with all of the employees.

The physical therapists were intense, but they had to be to get mom back on her feet. They have physical therapy TWICE a day, so eat your Wheatie’s! After 3 weeks, mom was ready for the real world. She still walks with a walker but it’s just for safety’s sake.

I can’t really put into words how much I appreciate the whole team at The Heights on Valley Ranch. They treated mom with kindness and respect. And I saw them do that to everyone. I know some real villains work at other nursing homes, but not here. I would give them 100 stars if I could! And if they’re smart they will invest in Essa Khan. He’s that good!! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone there !!!
