I recently visited this nursing home to tour it for a family member, and honestly the experience left me really concerned. When I first arrived, there was no one at the front desk. I had to ring the bell several times before anyone came out. For a place that takes care of vulnerable residents, it was unsettling that no staff were available right away. The first thing I noticed when walking in was the smell. One tip when looking for a nursing home is to pay attention to the smell because it can say a lot about the level of cleanliness and care. Unfortunately, the building had a very unpleasant odor that made it feel unhygienic. Another thing that stood out was that the facility looks very different from the photos online. In person it looks much older and more worn down than what is advertised. At one point while we were touring, we heard a resident screaming, and one of the cleaning staff members was laughing about it. That moment was really uncomfortable to witness and didn’t feel compassionate at all. Something else that really bothered me was the lack of privacy for residents. Many of the window curtains were completely open facing the street, which means people walking or driving by can see straight into the residents’ rooms. For patients who may be bedridden or receiving care, that feels like a huge invasion of their dignity and privacy. Another major concern was the beds. When we asked about beds for residents who are bedridden, we were told they do not have beds with side rails. For patients who cannot move on their own, side rails are an important safety feature that help prevent them from rolling or falling out of bed. Without them, a resident could easily fall and seriously hurt themselves, especially if they are weak, confused, or unable to call for help. Hearing that they don’t have this basic safety measure was honestly alarming. Overall, after seeing these things during the tour, I personally would not feel comfortable placing a loved one here and would encourage families to carefully look at other options.
