My husband just checked in there one week before. He is taken good care of. He was calm and peaceful when I visited him. I think he likes here better than the one he went before. The center is very clean, bright, no bad smell. The staff are all nice and helpful. Thank you everyone there for taking care of him!

This place is a joke. My dads health got worse being at this place and all they cared about was getting paid. I came to visit my dad on a visit and he was covered in food and coffee. I asked him why no one had assisted him or changed him and he said that no one came to help him when he called for an aide. The rooms are gross and not very clean. I got him out of there as soon as I could.

My dad spent more than 5 years here before passing away in another hospital in 2023. Overall, it was a good facility. The staff were nice and caring. I felt the overall culture inside was warm and positive. We felt we never had to worry about abuse or anything like that. However, you do need to stay involved and stay engaged with the care team. Make sure they follow through on the care plan you discussed and agreed on during your meetings. Make sure your loved one’s basic needs are being met. Make sure you’re all on track with your goals here. Show them you care and they will respond in kind. One downside to this facility: there are no good hospitals nearby. The nearest hospital is Greater El Monte Community Hospital. If your loved one needs emergency or acute care, he/she will likely be sent there (unless when they’re full). In our experience, we met some nice staff, but we weren’t happy with some of the doctors there. They were definitely not as professional or caring as the doctors in larger, teaching hospitals. Did we meet any good doctors there? Yes, but it depended on luck. In fact, my dad died 5 days after his last discharge from this hospital. We felt he wasn’t ready, but the doctor at the time made that decision. If you are looking for a good facility for your loved one, I hope this review helps. I’ve been wanting to write this review for a while, but didn’t do it until more than 2 years later. Thanks to Blanca, Nancy and the rest of the staff for taking care of my dad.

My Mother has been at Sunset Manor in El Monte since November 2023. I am there almost every day with her, and I see firsthand their daily activities. My mother is 92 years old and not the perfect patient. The kitchen has adjusted her meals, the RNs/LVNs, DNAs, RNAs, Social Workers, Physical Therapists, Finance Office, Laundry dept, cleaning crew, maintenance staff and Management (sorry if I miss anyone) this staff has been so nice and helpful regarding my mother's every needs. They always keep the family, me and my sister, informed. In fact, my mothers' roommate (patient) told me that she never wants to leave the Manor. She loves staying at the Manor because everyone there are so very nice with her and tends to her needs. I give Suset Manor and all who work there: 5 stars *****. :)

My 80-year-old sister has been at Sunset Manor for about 2 years. She continues to have excellent care. The aids, nursing staff and administrators are proactive and very responsive to all requests. It’s always clean and rarely smells. They have been great about setting monthly plans as a team and monitor her closely on a daily basis. The only problem I have right now with them is they have a phone system that is not fully functional - but other than that, they’re doing a great job!
