My mother was admitted twice for nursing and rehabilitation care. The staff were great the first time, so when she was referred a second time with a very complicated broken leg she chose to go back to Spearfish Canyon Healthcare for a second time. She rehabilitated a second time and was able to return to her home. Without this rehab she would have had to be placed in a long term care facility which was not what she wished. She was very involved in her treatment, she made the call each step of the way and that was very important to her. Thank you for taking care of her. I always knew she was in good hands at the end of the day.

My was in this facility, the worst care ever. She came from Monument hospital.i had to empty the trash a least 4 times and set in the hall. Her rehab for the 2 weeks she was there consisted of one hour of treatment. I stayed with my wife from 7am to 8pm. Her bed was made a total of 3 times. The bedding was never changed for the 2 weeks we were there. Bathroom cleaned 3 times in 2 weeks. Shared bathroom, patient next to my wife was left on the toilet for 35 minutes. Gloves that were used for the other patient one was thrown on the floor in stayed there for 2 days until I put in the trash, partial toilet paper roll was left on the left side of toilet for four days. One physical session consisted on walking up four set of stairs. Put in wheelchair for ten minutes a nd walked of the 4 stairs. Then back to her rm. The wheelchair that was provided was so dirty, I asked an aide for wipes to clean it. Most horrifying experience ever. Did call Sd health and reported it. My wife didn't like me to complain but what about patients that don't have anyone

Mom has been here 3 times to help with rehabilitation, before her final move into nursing home care, the staff has been incredible, and now as she's in her final phase they have been so kind to help us get through this step.
