About Skyland Trail Rollins Campus

Skyland Trail Rollins Campus in Brookhaven, Georgia is a nonprofit mental health treatment organization offering transitional housing with psychiatric treatment and integrated medical care. For over 30 years, the organization has provided evidence-based treatment programs designed to support individuals with mental illness through graduated levels of support on their recovery journey.

The transitional housing program operates at Skyland Trail North, which includes 13 two-bedroom apartments where clients live semi-independently with moderate staff support. Residents have private bedrooms and share bathrooms and living areas with another client. The campus features community living areas, a dining room, kitchen, and gardens. Clients may remain in transitional housing for up to one year after graduating from intensive programs, provided they continue to meet engagement and activity requirements.

Weekly visits from an independence coach help transitional clients adjust to independent living, manage medications, and address practical matters such as bill paying, transportation planning, and community resource access. Clients can also enroll in outpatient programs that provide socialization opportunities through support groups, book clubs, art and music lessons, group fitness and recreation, and community outings.

Admission to the program is voluntary and occurs through referral from a mental health professional or organization, as well as through self and family referrals. The organization notes that space in transitional housing is limited and that clients with dual diagnosis or substance use history are referred to third-party recovery residences or sober living communities. Skyland Trail also emphasizes education as part of its mission, offering learning opportunities for professionals, families, and community members about mental health and psychiatric treatment.

I cannot recommend this housing. I was in residential living at Skyland for almost 90 days, the residential housing was WAY better then this place. The buildings are old, and way out dated, especially for the price that you are paying. $3,000+ a month for an apartment that looks like it was built in the 1980s. I would highly suggest you to save your money and find a different place to go to.

I experienced unprofessional-like conduct from the admissions staff while applying for the anxiety residential program. Staff fails to return phone calls after many, repeated attempts to contact them. I have left numerous voicemail messages. Still nothing. Later, they claimed I was unfit for their program. I have no shadow of a doubt to assume my calls were being ignored. My mother was able to talk to them on a few occasions, but there was hardly any effort to reach out to me. I am 23 years old, and I feel I should have a right to directly speak to staff about my healthcare matters without using a middleperson. Yes, I feel my mom should be able to communicate with them, hence the reason I signed the release forms. I want my mom to be involved, but I am just aggrivated about being ignored. I had a misdemeanor on my record, which at one point they expressed potential issues with that. Although, being a mental health facility, they should know that encounters with law enforcement are not unusual with the mentally ill and should take that into consideration. I have been out of work for 8 months. I can barely function. I need help. Why am I being denied?
