1 Star – Absolutely Do Not Go to San Gabriel Medical Center
I am still in shock and disgust over the treatment my mother received at San Gabriel Medical Center today. What should have been basic, competent medical care turned into one of the most neglectful, cold, and unprofessional experiences I have ever witnessed in a hospital.
My mother was admitted at 7:30 this morning. It is now after 6:00 in the evening — nearly eleven full hours later — and not a single doctor has come to see her. Not one. She has been sitting in that room all day with no physician visit, no real explanation, and no clear plan.
The only doctor contact she had was the ER doctor who, at approximately 8:20 a.m., casually told her she may have colon cancer and then walked away. That is not an exaggeration. He dropped that devastating possibility on her and then disappeared. No follow-up. No further discussion. No specialist. No attending physician. Just left her there to sit with those words hanging over her head for the rest of the day while the hospital “admitted” her and then essentially abandoned her.
Admitted her to what, exactly? A holding pattern? A forgotten room? Because that is what it felt like. Staff came and went for the bare minimum tasks, but there was zero sense of urgency, zero communication, and zero accountability. When you tell a patient — especially an older patient — that they may have cancer and then leave them alone for hours with no doctor coming to examine them, explain the next steps, order appropriate tests, or even check on their emotional state, that is not medicine. That is negligence wrapped in a hospital gown.
The anxiety and fear this caused my mother is something I will not forget. She has been sitting there for hours processing the possibility of cancer with no doctor available to answer questions, calm her, or give any actual medical guidance. That is cruel. It is unprofessional. And it is completely unacceptable for any medical facility that claims to care for patients.
I would strongly, strongly recommend that no one take their family members to San Gabriel Medical Center if they can possibly avoid it. The level of disregard shown today was appalling. If this is how they treat an admitted patient after delivering potentially life-altering news, I have zero confidence in their ability to provide proper care.
My mother deserved better. Every patient deserves better. This place failed her today in a way that is hard to put into words.

My mother is having surgery in this hospital today because the doctor works off here. I've been to this hospital years ago when my cousin was admitted. It was bad than, it's still poor now. Lack of service, not enough staff and the place just look old.
By the way, internet service is not working for guests. I have to do work and browse so news while I wait. It will not load these pages and I can not get to any pages or news.

Overall good experience.

The front staff was nice. The nurses, phlebotomist, radiologist, and providers were very thorough and efficient at testing, diagnosing, and treating.

The front waiting room didn’t look busy but it was busy on the inside.

I did a walk-in at 7 pm. Did urine and blood labs, CT scans, got my diagnosis, treatment ((1) shot), and prescriptions sent to pharmacy in around 2 hr and 30 min.

The single worst hospital i have ever been to. Period. Do yourself a favor and dont die by going here. Litterally dozens of errors, incompetecies, odd, stupid, illogical procedures and a general abdication at any attempt to competence but for 2 nurses, the cleaning staff and kitchen personnel. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!
