I give this Nursing Home an excellent rating. My Step mother was there for the last few months of her life (2007) and my father for a year until nis death (2013) and presently my sister who has is there now and has been for more than 7 years. I live over 600 miles away and I can rest at night knowing she is well cared for. As a retired nurse and former inspector for nursing home facilities , I am familiar with regulations and problems encountered in such facilities, and one of the strong points of this facility in the past has been staff retention---however recently---in the past year it seems the turnover has been greater. However essential care has continued thanks to staff apparently making sure patients come first. I want particularly want to point out that staff responds to any concerns I have and has called me with updates unsolicited when unexpected things have occurred in my sisters care. I admit I was concerned when a new administrator came that the climate of care might change, and it has ---but It seems to have been a smooth transition for the residents and there have been improvements that are evident over the past 2 years. This facility has embraced the challanges of the pandemic and kept their residents safe. I cannot be more pleased with this hometown facility that becomes family to these residents and family to us as well. I feel that for the most part staff treats residents like they are family---if not they are not there long. Highest praise to being invited to participate in patients treatment plan updates by phone. I appreciate timely letters updating me on facility policy changes and the policy of transparency! I was particularly impressed by the evening nurse who called after my sister went for a check-up just to tell me labs were normal,no change to meds. I usually only hear when something is wrong.
