I had the pleasure of attending a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce at Palmview. Carol had given me a tour of the community. I was so impressed with this community. The staff is so welcoming and accommodating. Living in Lee county for 30 years, I am asked many times by residents in the county for a suggestion for their loved ones. Carol gave me all the information for Palmview. Thank you so much for the opportunity to tour and see what this hidden gem has to offer.

My husband went into Palmview in July, 2023. We thought everything was great. The nursing staff was incredible. However, a little more than a year later in September, 2024 the Management completely changed as did the quality of his care. They hired medical techs to dispense medication. They are NOT nurses. The Management was rude and could not have cared less about my concerns. After three (3) meetings with the Administrator, her Supervisor and the head of nursing it was evident that all they cared about was money. They did nothing to improve the conditions. Then I tried to reach out to the executive director. He would not return my calls. After leaving three (3) messages I was told that he was not going to speak to me and that I should deal with the Administrator of Palmview. Of course, I had already tried to work with the management on site and they refused to help. In fact, I feel that they were even more difficult to work with after I complained.<br>I complained was not kept clean and it smelled like cat urine because one resident had a cat who roamed the halls and obviously did not use the litter box all the time. I have owned many cats and loved them all, but they must be taken care of like any pet. I became friends with many of the staff members and they confided things in me that would have had any facility shut down for a variety of violations. Then I found out that they had been giving my husband DOUBLE his medication! Instead of one pill per day as the Dr. prescribed, they gave him two pills. When I confronted the med. tech about this she just said, "that's what is in the computer." She told me that the head of nursing put the dosage in the computer. So I contacted the head of nursing, She refused to meet with me in person and only said, "things like this happen all the time." That was the last straw. I immediately gave our notice to leave and I moved my husband to a wonderful facility in Cape Coral. Just before we left and for several months after that I found out that many other residents had left for the same reasons. In some cases their loved one died as a result of the poor care given to them at Gulf Coast Village Palmview. Not only that, but the facility was under investigation again after we left. I say "again" because it had been under investigation in the past. I know a nurse who left because she could not work with the violations she was seeing. She reported them, but nothing changed and she felt that her license was as risk.<br>Don't let the beautiful new building or the slick sales pitch sway you. Talk to family members of the residents. The residents themselves may not know what goes on behind the scenes. Unless the Management has changed since October, 2025 then nothing has changed. The rates there were also higher than many other facilities; however, we were willing to pay that for quality care. Then, with the new Management we noticed a huge change is services. They even cut the dining room hours for their own convenience and to save money so that the residents had only a very short window to be served!<br>My husband has been in a new Assisted Living for four months now and it's a world of difference. The facility is clean and smells wonderful. The dining room is open ALL day. The staff members are long-term employees, not random contract workers. The medical cart they keep is pristine and was noted by inspectors as being the "best he has seen." And he has a two-bedroom apartment for not much more than what we paid for a very small one-bedroom at Palmview.<br>I intentionally waited a few months to write this review. I was extremely upset when I moved him. However, I did not want to write this review out of emotion. There are too many facts about Palmview that made me feel compelled to try to save others from the same experience that we had.
