Skilled Nursing

Skilled Nursing Care

Medicalodges Wichita offers skilled nursing care for both short-term (respite) and long-term stays in a warm, homelike environment. Some of the skilled nursing services we provide are:

•    Post-surgical care
•    Nutrition via feeding tubes
•    Oxygen therapy / treatments
•    Wound care / therapy
•    Parenteral / IV fluids and medication
•    Diabetic care

Hospice Care

By working closely with hospice providers, we offer outstanding hospice and palliative care and family support for those who are facing end-of-life issues. Pain management, social services, bereavement counseling, and spiritual guidance are just some of the services offered through hospice care.

Respite Care

Short-term, respite stays provide caregivers with much-deserved time of their own, enabling them to attend to personal needs and rejuvenate for improved care of their loved one. It also provides their loved one with a change of scenery and the opportunity for social interaction. Short-term stays are also a good way to assist individuals with preparing to transition to a long-term stay and may be the best way to support the person’s medical needs.

Adult Day Care

For some people, inpatient stays don’t quite fit their current needs. Many times, all that is needed are a few hours allowing a caregiver to be able to take a break or complete some errands. For these situations, we provide adult day care services. These services provide your loved one with nursing care, dining services and socialization for a few hours a day. While the individual is able to enjoy a delicious meal, activities and medical attention, the caregiver can have a few hours to attend to his or her personal needs.

Rehabilitation

Many of those who come to Medicalodges Wichita do so with the goal to return home, which is a goal we share as well. Our Therapy and Rehabilitation Programs can assist them to do just that. Some of the programs we offer include stroke recovery, hip and knee surgery replacement programs, as well as other post-acute care needs. Through the assistance of these programs, residents often find that they are prepared to successfully return to their homes.

An individualized therapy program is developed for each resident. The program may include a combination of occupational, physical, and/or speech-language therapy.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy helps in achieving independence and the ability to perform activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, and grooming. Therapists complete home assessments and may recommend adaptive equipment. They also work with the family members and caregivers so that the individual’s goals for independent living can be reached.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy assists in pain reduction, strengthening and restoration of normal gait and function.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy provides evaluation and treatment of impaired speech, language and swallowing. Speech-language therapy is commonly needed after a neurological incident such as a stroke, or as a result of Parkinson’s disease, long-term dementia, and hospitalization.

Restorative Therapy

Restorative Therapy seeks to assist the resident with maintaining their current range of motion, ambulation and mobility, and muscle tone. Restorative Therapy benefits residents who have recently received other therapy treatment, as well as those who have stayed with us for some time and need further assistance to prevent physical decline. Restorative Therapy assists residents to maintain their physical strength and range of motion when it might otherwise be lost.

Long-term Care

For those who need regular health monitoring and are seeking a caring and compassionate place to call home, we offer long-term care in a beautiful, homelike environment. We are able to support the healthcare needs of individuals who require 24-hour care with conditions such COPD, diabetes, heart disease or those recovering from a stroke. Our team receives specialized training to support chronic conditions including regular dementia training.

Our residents enjoy daily activities and a wealth of hotel-like amenities, so they are able to continue leading purposeful and fulfilling lives, even in the midst of their health challenges. Our medical team works with residents’ private physicians to create a comprehensive plan of care. Medicalodges Wichita offers a wide choice of menu selections to our residents, creating an atmosphere of resident-centered living. We also make special diet preparations and work closely with our residents’ physicians to meet any specialized needs.

Social Areas

Our main living areas and family room provide a great place to relax and socialize. Our big-screen TVs and exercise programs are very popular with our residents.

Family Spaces

We welcome families and friends to visit. Please join us for a meal in the dining area, or reserve one of our family rooms for special occasions. Meal tickets can be purchased at a reasonable cost.

Barbershop / Salon

A licensed beautician is contracted to come to the community twice weekly providing a full array of services.

Spiritual

Each week, church members from the community come to Medicalodges to provide Bible studies and church services from many different denominations.

Transportation Services

We offer handicap-accessible transportation for many scheduled appointments.
