My mother is there for short term rehab. She has been asking for a shower for days since she had been released from the hospital 6 days ago, the staff told her they can't do it because they are short staffed. She had to call 911 because the staff didn't come when she really needed help. When she wanted to talk to the person in charge and the worker proceeded to withhold that information and said she had to deal with it. She also told me to not say anything because she didn't want to make waves. Disappointing to say the least.

My husband was at Grand Meadow Nursing home past 2 months and it could not been a better fit for us. Yes the building is old, but the staff is terrific. His care was outstanding, and he didn’t make things easy. I could easily communicate with all the personnel and other residents. I was kept informed on all changes in his condition! I also could tell the staff truly cared about him and he cared and was comfortable with them. I would highly recommend it.

My mother in law was there for over a year and her health declined significantly over that time. Much of it was due to a lack of care. She put on 70-80 pounds and no dietician was consulted and the family was never consulted, They had to seek out information and always had a rough time getting reasonably quick helpful information. My wife got so frustrated that she finally moved her mom as she couldn't bear to have her mother there any longer. My mother in laws cognitive decline was notable as well and the facility again did not consult family or seem to have any protocol for helping residents improve their health. It very much felt like a place that people just went to wait until they died. Thankfully my mother in law is in a much better facility now and has already begun to show progress in regaining some of what she lost while at Grand Meadow. It is too bad that facilities like Grand Meadow are often all that are available to our loved ones. They can do better, and until they do please do not allow your loved one to be placed there.

My mother was a resident at this facility for about a year and a half. I would not, under any circumstances, recommend Grand Meadow Senior Living for anyone to go to. First, rooms are dingy and old. The facility looks really run down and not kept up at all. Second, and most important, the worst issue was patient care. Family was rarely notified when my mother had medical issues. Staff would almost never return phone calls from family, despite multiple calls into various staff members. And this experience of not returning phone calls was across the board -- charge nurse, director of nursing, or executive director. Grand Meadow would say that family should call this line or that number but it made no difference. Plus, Grand Meadow stated it wasn't their policy to notify family, and/or they couldn't notify family because they were very short staffed. And they were true to their word that they followed their policy not to notify family. In addition, family would report issues to staff, they weren't followed up on. If we attempted to follow up, we would get asked and asked who it was reported to, NOT if the issue was resolved. My mother's health deteriorated greatly, and unlike other facilities, this did not trigger any automatic reviews. Many facilities intentionally have certain changes trigger staff to review the patient, and adjust care accordingly. Luckily, we were able to get my mother placed at another facility. However, the decline in her condition is likely permanent and much of her decline was avoidable, and it didn't have to be that way. Please do yourself and/or your family member a favour -- avoid Grand Meadow Senior Living like the plague.

Great nursing home and assisted living. My mother lived in the assisted living for a year. The facility is very well maintained and the employees are caring and loving. I'm very happy my mother had the chance to live there. Also the residents are very friendly and kind.
