Where to begin? For my parents it began when we were searching for assisted living and memory care. After visiting several places we decided on Keystone Villa, primarily based on the nice rooms/units they offer. That is about the only good thing I can Say.<br><br>During a group meeting between the previous caregivers my parents had and the staff at Keystone Villa, they assured us that this would be a very appropriate Setting for my parents that would meet all of their needs. After one of my parents fell 5 times within the first week and several times after that, due to A lack of proper staffing, we knew we needed to move them elsewhere. During that time it was also determined that my other parent needed memory care. Memory care consisted of my Parent sitting alone in a room at the far end of the hallway with nobody checking on him except to give him medication and bring him to his meals. How they consider this memory care is beyond me… Other than the aforementioned, They received no individual care and we frequently found them Either alone in their room crying and/or sleeping, Or in the common area where there were no other residents near his level that they could communicate with.<br><br>Whenever we addressed a concern, specifically about medication We were met with a great deal of opposition, even though the medication they had both been prescribed had been appropriate prior to their admission.<br><br>I cannot emphasize enough how regretful I am that I put my parents through this. I feel that the main emphasis throughout this whole process was about how wonderful everything was at Keystone Villa, especially the rooms. I believe this is what a lot of people get sold on. Bigger rooms do not mean better care.<br><br>Finally, the number of times we were told That they were understaffed was just inexcusable. We were paying all of this money for my parents to get appropriate care yet we had to either almost every day to make sure they were receiving that care. We were even asked if we could bring one of my parents back to our house for a few days until they could make other arrangements. That was simply not an option.<br><br>STAY AWAY!

I have read all the complaints and it does makes you think twice. However, these complaints are very old. I don’t like to this but based on my experience, I would say, you just have to asked many questions and go pass beyond the old complaints because it is not how it perceive from what others stated. Based on our experience. I hope this helps many of you.<br>My in laws just moved in (9JUL). They have one bedroom and it’s pretty roomy. It is basically a size of a simple one bedroom apartment: fridge, stove, cute little kitchen, and has community laundry. They are very friendly and helpful workers here. Don’t forget, my inlaws are not the only residents here. Attending to their needs, you do have to wait just like any other retirement, independent, or assisted living places out there. Unless it’s in dire needs and or emergency, of course they will there for your parents.<br>So, As a visitor for couple days now, we have been spending time with my in laws from eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is not that bad at all. Again, this is not a four star hotel. They do assist the residents if they want more food or not.<br>They do have Lots of daily activities that is posted all over the facility and in their room. I saw the calendar that was in my in law’s room. Lots of clubs to join too such Veterans club!<br><br>If you can see beyond what others complaining about this place, this place is not bad at all compare to other places we had been to. Again, those complaints are very old. Like my father in law said and he is a retired General “I like this place, not bad”.

My sister moved into assisted living in February 2025. The very first day there everyone called her by name and that really impressed her. She had moved from Pittsburgh to Ephrata and knew no one other than her family in the area. The staff is caring, compassionate, and there to serve. Everytime I visit I continue to look for…staff friendliness, caring manners, cleanliness of dining area, cleanliness of my sister’s room, etc.. I am never disappointed. The very high ceilings in the rooms make them cheerful and bright.<br><br>I did extensive searching in the area and this place offers the best!

BEWARE! My mother was in the secured dementia unit for less than 36 hours before she was taken by ambulance to the emergency room for smacking her head, skin tears so deep her tissue was protruding and SEVERE bruising up both wrists and arms from a male med tech who pushed her down after she entered the med room where the door was left open. We placed her at keystone because her aggressive behavior was a lot to handle and Keystone repeatedly ensured us that they were prepared and used to these behaviors. That she would be safe there and we will look back and wish we would have made this horribly difficult decision sooner like other families. They missed giving her medication on her first day there completely due to a pharmacy issue within Keystone. She’s 75 and has NEVER acted the way they’re describing for myself or any of her other caregivers. We trusted their word that SHE WAS IN A SAFE PLACE and THEY WILL MAKE SURE SHE IS SAFE. She has been in the hospital for two weeks where myself and my sisters stayed around the clock to ensure her safety. Every doctor and nurse who looked at my mother said this was unnecessary abuse but the Ephrata police based their investigation off the testimonies of the abusers themselves and closed the investigation. The officer told me, “it was only a five foot hallway not ten” that she was pushed across, “she’s very strong for her age”, “she obtained small scratches when she FELL”. Video footage wasn’t available where the incident took place but there are two cameras in the exact location of the incident. Let them be fooled but I will not be. We had cameras in my mother’s room and I was able to hear how they treated her wheelchair bound roommate when preparing her for bed and it was not with the gentle kindness that their marketing director and fourth floor director told us it would be. This is being brushed under the rug and forgotten about. Keystone wasn’t in the wrong yet their homeless med tech was fired and their sign now says they’re hiring. I’m disgusted beyond words and the police let us, my mother and every other family and resident down by letting this go based off the stories of the other abusers who want to keep their jobs. Multiple past and current employees reached out to me willing to testify about the ongoing abuse that they witness at Keystone even in the dining area. Not ONE person has contacted us asking how my mother is. They REFUSED to give me a copy of the incident report and treated me like I was the one in the wrong by asking for it. This place needs shut down! People need to speak the truth and stand up for what is right not what is acceptable by laws or policies! If you would like to see the pictures of what they did to my sick mother or want more details do not hesitate to contact me. Nobody has my mother’s back but I certainly do and I don’t want anybody to suffer the way we are.
