After touring several of the other properties in Escondido and San Marcos, we settled on Tuscan Hills. Price wasn't a strong factor in the decision as our main concern was that resort feel that comes with upscale senior living. The amenities and activities were a strong consideration as well. Turns out it was get-your-cake-and-eat-it-too as the price for mom's one bedroom apartment was several hundred dollars less than comparable properties.<br>That's all well and fine but the real story about Tuscan Hills is the people who are there day in and day out. Mom, like a lot of folks facing a move into managed care, was, let's say less than thrilled. In our case, we needed a lot of support and some extra consideration in helping mom adjust. To say the staff went above and beyond would be a huge understatement. David, the executive director of the facility spent, and continues to spend, personal one-on-one time with mom. He is obviously equipped for the job and has been a tremendous help. Rose, the head nurse, helped mom work through some challenges with adjusting to her new environment. Watching from a distance you would have thought she was talking to her own mother. She was so gentle and kind. Pam and Azalia from the business office, have helped in so many ways, their kindness and patience with my mom and their advice has been invaluable. The care teams, the dining room staff, right down to the maintenance crew who helped set up mom's apartment, every single interaction has been stellar. Needless to say, we feel tremendously blessed to have found the gem in senior living that is Tuscan Hills.
