Dr Boyer is very experienced in internal medicine & surgical procedures. Besides that, he has a terrific ability to listen and communicate complex medical issues to his patients. I would recommend him highly!

Not very happy with the care they gave my mom. Was told 5 different things before we had to leave. Saw Dr Smith twice. Once to tell us the 5 different things that could possibly happen and then to tell us his shift was over. We waited over an hour in hopes another doctor would give more information. No 0mom just had major surgery and is having issues and 12 hours later she's still in the ER with no answers.

I am an ICU nurse with over 20 years of experience, and I have never encountered such a profound lack of communication, empathy, and safe discharge planning. My son was brought here via EMS while in police custody after days of severe mental health crisis, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and significant physical trauma. He had been tased four times, a police canine was released on him causing multiple dog bites, and he struck his head during arrest—placing him at high risk for complications. Initially, one ED physician was kind and reassuring. After that, communication completely broke down. I was told at one point that he “wasn’t there,” then informed no information could be shared due to police custody. I later obtained emergency legal guardianship through the court and presented the order in person, yet still struggled to receive basic updates. Despite repeated calls over two days, I could not speak with a physician until I was suddenly notified that my son would be discharged to jail within 30 minutes. At that time, I learned for the first time that he had been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, with elevated CK levels, and that IV fluids had already been discontinued. No one could clearly answer whether he was eating, drinking, or producing adequate urine. Concerns about ongoing vomiting, bloody diarrhea, kidney injury, and infection were dismissed. While a few staff members were compassionate, others were dismissive, and one nurse abruptly hung up on me after telling me my son had already been discharged. Patients in custody—and their families—deserve humane care, clear communication, and safe discharge planning. This experience was frightening, preventable, and deeply concerning.

Dr. Boyer removed my gallbladder in February 2026. The entire ER and surgery staff at Johnson Memorial was fabulous. Caring and efficient. Dr. Boyer explain the whole process and, since my surgery was also going to need a separate procedure, he completely explained everything and presented options and answered all questions. I had no complications, went home the same day, and feel I received excellent care.

Dr. Boyer explained in detail what I have going on and we decided to proceed with surgery this Friday 2/27/26! I'm absolutely terrified but I feel like I'm in good hands. Nurse practitioner Jenny Lee is my primary care physician and I don't think that she would guided me in the wrong direction. I for a post after surgery how everything went. I do trust that I am in good hands though.
