My name is John Stevens, and I am proud to call Ivy Park at Seven Oaks my home. I had the honor of serving the good people of Kern County as a Deputy District Attorney for 31 years, and these days I am enjoying a comfortable and happy life here. I have a cozy one bedroom apartment that suits me just fine. The staff here are truly wonderful and always ready with a smile. Ray in the dining room is a real favorite of mine. He remembers what everyone likes, which makes every meal feel a little more special. Speaking of meals, we are treated to three delicious meals each day, and I always look forward to them. The med techs do a terrific job helping me with my medications and are always there if I need anything. It gives me a lot of peace of mind. Management is easy to talk to as well. Our Executive Director holds monthly meetings and always keeps her door open, which says a lot. What I enjoy most is the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. There is always something going on, and bingo is a big hit around here. A few dimes and quarters, some laughs, and good company make for a great time. All in all, it is a wonderful place to be, and I am very happy to call it home.

My mom lived at Ivy Park for five months in 2025, after the death of her oldest son who had lived with her for many years. Ivy Park staff made her feel welcomed and cared for from the very first visit. Their staff take a personal interest in their residents and provide loving, compassionate care. My mom stated numerous times that she felt “at home” at Ivy Park.

My mother was a resident at Ivy Park for the year before her passing. Everybody there was such a pleasure to deal with from Michelle at the front desk to the staff that delivered meals to the room. My mother enjoyed the care she received, I was also very pleased with her care. Whenever I had a concern or question I received a quick response from the appropriate person/ department. No matter how busy the person was they always took the time to answer your question. The family was treated as part of the care team, in fact they are treated like family by at least exchanging a “Hi” in passing if not a small chat. If I am in need of their care I will definitely talk to them first

While everyone looked to be receiving good care, and the facility looked clean and welcoming, we did not choose Ivy Park due to the administrative staff not being upfront about costs. We made it well into the process, but realized at assessment that we were misquoted on costs for such things as medication management. We were sorely disappointed at the added costs, hundreds of dollars above ($600+ above quote) above quote when touring. I understand that this is a business, but to be strung along like this, when they knew the costs were already high, was not just wrong, it was unethical. Sorely disappointed. When I confronted the tour guide, her response was defensive and rude, instead of being apologetic and humble. She came across like a different person than the sweet and caring guide we had worked with for several months while making this decision. That tells me a lot. My mom was in tears today, which was heartbreaking. If you have unlimited funds, this place may be good for you.
