They didn't check his heart rate and blood pressure before giving certain meds that specified on the orders that they could only give under a certain condition. He changed rooms and floors. They dumped his stuff in his room and didn't even put it away. They didn't give him any supper. Then they didn't give him his morning meds. They said he was only supposed to get two Tylenol. He's a heart patient! Skipping his medicine could kill him! When he said he wanted to go home they ignored him. I went and asked for his medicine and said I was taking him home. They said I had to get his guardian to sign for him to go home because he was incompetent. I had to inform them that he was not incompetent and was in charge of his own affairs. I told the head nurse he was as competent as she was. I should have said MORE than she was. I said I hope I don't have to get his lawyer involved. I hate to imagine how he would have been treated if he had Alzheimer's or dementia! Or if I hadn't been there everyday to watch over him.

If I could rate this facility a zero I would. My Brother in law was there 15 days until he passed. I was his Advocate. Anyone there absolutely will need one !! Watch them closely !! He had a Stroke..so his left side did not work. I ask for a trapeze bar because there were no side bed rails for his right arm to adjust himself in bed, etc. If I hadn't of they certainly wouldn't have offered one...and refused to add side rails due to "they can't restrain the patient"...The room was filled with gnats daily..which was reported and not handled. The gnats were in his drinks. They let him dehydrate which took his health down. They would bring his food tray in and put it down and walk out. He couldn't maneuver himself well enough to eat alone so I had them to assist in meal times....which in my opinion they should've realized he was struggling to eat without me telling them. After his Stroke, he started at the hospital, then went to Encompass (which was a wonderful experience .. they helped him quite a bit in therapy 3 hrs a day) to this nursing home..where He declined...he didn't have physical therapy daily and its only 30 minutes if they do have it. The food was cold in temperature. The floors are sticky....shoes sticking to them as you walk in the room. If the patient at the window bed didn't like light and didn't pull the curtain...the patient by the door is left in darkness which brings on depression. He had a BIG bed sore...extremely painful... he wasn't getting proper attention for it. When he had the stroke, he had fell on his hard wood floors..which made his hips and body hurt. They didn't provide any pain meds until my Husband and I met with the NP. It's sad they will hold pain meds on an elderly person that needs relief. It's pitiful....plus the pain from the bed sore. His clothes were not changed daily. I bought him all new clothes and I was there daily they were not changing him. I ask him about showers he said he hadn't have one ..and he was there 15 days. With the Stroke...he started choking on his drinks...I spoke with the Speech Therapist, she was great...but I felt his liquids should've been thickened and his foods should have been pureed. The Dysplasia diet would have definitely worked best for him....and they never thickened his drinks nor did they puree his foods. He continued to choke until he got pneumonia. The financial dept wants money from the family before the 20 days are even up for insurance to pay for the facility...they ask about it approx one 1 week that he was there. He had a secondary insurance that would have picked up for another 100 days after the 20. I absolutely would NOT recommend this place !!!!!! If you research nursing homes this one only had a 1 star. We unfortunately had to place him there because it was the only local nursing home that had an available bed. I see why they are only a 1 star. Be aware !!! Do tours through others. Do research on them. I've been through 5 others and they were all better than this one. We had no choice .. . But if we had of....He wouldn't have been there. Most of the staff are pleasant. But overwhelmed. And everyone we spoke to ... it was their first day or been there under a week. So turn over there is terrible. I would not ever want to be there myself. The physical therapy dept is ok...the staff there is nice but a lot of patients go in there to just hang out and it creates space issues with patients that are getting physical therapy. Update: the facility apparently posted to my comment. My response is...learn from ALL of these negative comments. Make the facility a better place. If I were the manager there .. knowing of these reviews and also knowing my facility was rated a 1...I'd strive to make sure to correct these issues to make the facility a 5. I will also add....I'd call and call and call -- before someone would answer the phone. Apparently they could use a Receptionist.

I had a three week stay at HHR recently for therapy. Nate worked with me every day and really helped me get stronger. They have activities every day that I enjoyed. All the staff were wonderful. I highly recommend Huntington health and rehab!

Food is not brought in warm, literally cold in the middle. The nurses are mostly nice, but they can be a bit testy when you ask for water or ice. My mom was there for in patient rehab, but they would try to push her off on doing rehab by saying “I’m just here to walk you” and not from actual rehab. When I tried to call for rehab/therapy recommendations for her coming home, they WILL NOT answer the phone! I called multiple times, with no assistance from the therapy department. The rooms are dark, unwelcoming, getting in the building feels like you are bothering the staff, and the water in the sink of the room was all cold, no hot water at all. All n all, it’s awful. It’s exactly the fear all people have getting old, being stuck in a bad place.

My mom was here for 12 days for rehab. The rehab staff are very good and the food isn't too bad. They also have a lot of fun activities for the rehab patients and " lifers." For the most part, the staff are friendly and helpful. Where the quality falls short occurs when patients are left alone with no family members to help out and advocate for their loved ones. Perhaps it's because they are understaffed or perhaps staff are underpaid, but when patients are left alone, the response times are very slow. My mom was alone for 4 days when I couldn't be there and during that time the staff seemed unattentive. For example, they would leave the food too far for her to reach or would close the door leaving her feeling isolated. When she called for help in these situations or to request assistance going to the bathroom,no one would come and when they did come 30 to 60 minutes later, the staff made my mom feel like a bother. They had only 2 potty seats in the whole facility so I brought ours from home. That made it easier on my mom to make it to the toilet when no one came. A few incidents left my mother feeling disrespected such as when they confiscated her CBD ointment with a flippant "You can't have that here." The same for her heating pad. They removed her personal items from the room instead of allowing a family member to take her possessions home. The worst incident occurred on the first day, however, when one "director" made my mother strip completely while she checked her "everywhere" for bed sores. She was made to feel like a prison inmate. This was late at night after being transported by ambulance from the hospital. This is not at all the welcome you'd expect for your very first encounter. My mother was alone and felt very powerless, vulnerable, and embarrassed. Why didn't we go somewhere else? This was the only facility that had had beds that my mom's Medicare Advantage plan would cover. It was the only way to get her the rehab she needed and the rehab staff were great.
