I have been in the long term care business for 35 years plus and been aware of Huger Mercy Living Center since its opening. I always loved the Arizona Model, beautiful outdoor areas, the longevity of the staff and the unique care provided for people living with dementia. I have recommended it as “a hidden gem” to so many families over the years. When my dad needed memory care I quickly got on the waiting list. He lived there 4 years and was loved and taken care of so well until his passing 4 months ago. We all were so grateful for the great food, staff, nursing care and especially the outstanding creative daily activities and special events. We can’t say enough about how wonderful Huger Mercy staff was the entire time not only to him but also to all of our family. I highly recommend Huger to any family in need of excellent memory care!

I visit senior living communities all over the Valley as part of my work and Huger Mercy Living Center stopped me in my tracks. It's a hidden gem off the 17 - a beautiful campus with a thoughtful cottage model designed around each stage of memory care, safe outdoor spaces residents can enjoy, and staff who have been there for decades. You can feel the 25+ years of heart and mission in this place. The story behind it - land donated by Dr. Huger after his wife's Alzheimer's journey. Maria, the Executive Director, was generous with her time and clearly leads with the mission in mind. Families looking for dedicated memory care should have this community on their list.

Excellent facility. The small cottages create a nice family atmosphere. Beautifully landscaped grounds, open to all residents to walk, sit, watch birds, and visit family and friends. No restrictions on when I can visit.<br>The activities are amazing! I’ve joined my husband for an Easter egg hunt, Valentine high-tea, and all sorts of musical events from the Phoenix symphony to rock and roll!<br>The staff is excellent, always pleasant and accessible.<br>My husband is comfortable, safe, happy, participating in life, having fun, and gaining weight! 🤩

A dear family member is at Huger where I’ve learned the difference between medical management and experiential care of Dementia. This facility is organically peaceful, the staff is authentically engaged. It feels safer than home. It supports, entertains, and lovingly challenges all residents, meeting them where they are. Music is paramount. Human interaction is daily. A “blast from the past” is intentional. No system is perfect. No single staff member can meet everyone’s individual needs. But the respect and effort of this culture supersedes any human frailty. I am forever grateful my beloved family member found his way to Huger. Seeing my dear bonus sister gain her life back with the peaceful supportive Huger community brings solace to my soul. No family should endure dementia but it’s a reality and the Huger family brings peace and support.

Both my mother and my mother-in-law were residents of Huger Mercy. We found Huger by a recommendation from another resident's loved one, and couldn't be more grateful. The care they both received up until the very end was caring and compassionate. We never felt that they did not receive the care they needed and deserved. Perhaps most importantly, Huger treats their residents like the living, breathing human beings that they are. They strive to let them live out their years with dignity. Many of the CNAs there have been there for a long time, as well as the nursing staff and activities director. To me this is a true testament that they love what they do. It takes a special kind of person to work with dementia patients, and Huger is full of them!
