About Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont

Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont is a nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider serving Greenwood and surrounding counties in South Carolina since 1981. The organization offers inpatient, in-home, and facility-based hospice and palliative care services to patients throughout the Piedmont region, with a team including physicians, nurses, chaplains, social workers, home health aides, and volunteers.

The community operates a 15-bed Hospice House, a homelike facility that provides dignified end-of-life care for hospice patients and respite for family members. Hospice services can be provided in patients' homes, nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, or private residences, with 24/7 accessibility for family members.

Care of the Piedmont emphasizes comprehensive support beyond medical care. The organization hosts bereavement support groups for those who have lost loved ones, caregiver support groups for those caring for seriously ill family members, and community events including summer camps for children. All support groups are free and open to the community. The organization also offers an online grief education series called "Whenever You're Ready" on YouTube.

Founded by local medical professionals, the organization remains governed by prominent local leaders and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with 100 percent of funds directed to patient and family services. The Hospice House is fully funded through community donations, and the Care of the Piedmont Foundation provides financial assistance to those unable to afford hospice or palliative care services.

Thank you for the care and compassion in my mother's final days. The entire staff were kind, caring and compassionate. From her time at home on hospice and her stay at the hospice house she received the best care from each & every person we had contact with from the transport team, the medical supply company, the visiting nurses, assistants & social workers. We are grateful to all who helped guide & nurture during this difficult time. Thank you!

I would like to take this opportunity while my feelings are still intact somewhat to say thank you to everyone at the facility for taking such great care of my grandmother, “Mamme”. She has been my rock and has pointed me in the direction to God my whole entire life. She has ALWAYS loved me as a grandmother should , unconditionally! Her time on this earth is almost gone , but my memory of her will live on forever. Thank you for the respect and kindness all of you shared with me and my family. Thank you.

I love this company, the people that work here were very sweet to my grandmother and me. The registered nurse Robinson was very friendly and very open. She waited late at night until almost 11pm to make sure everything was OK with my family. Losing a loved one is very difficult, but when you have support it makes it better. 💓

Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont is definitely a 5-star hospice care facility. I have experience with both friends going there for their final journey and have seen quality and compassionate care for not only the patient but for their family. I also have a therapy dog that volunteers with me there and I have experienced first hand the loving place that it is. They make a very hard time of life just a little bit better for both the patients and families.

I am so very grateful to all of the caring individuals we met and who helped my mother. Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont was responsive, compassionate, professional and sensitive to my mother's needs and the needs of our family. When my mother transferred to hospice house, we were equally impressed with the facility and the people. We could not recommend them highly enough. Plus Tiffany and Emily are superstars.
