My mom has been living at Sequoia Grove Gracious Retirement Living since November 2024, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this exceptional community. Sequoia Grove is a beautiful, welcoming place located in a safe and peaceful environment. From the moment you walk in, it truly feels like home. The community offers an impressive variety of activities and programs that keep residents engaged, active, and socially connected. Exercise classes, trivia games, cornhole, painting, music, and group team‑building activities are just some of the many options available. The dining experience is another standout. Residents enjoy three meals a day in a restaurant‑style setting where they order from a daily menu and are served at elegantly set tables while visiting with friends. It turns every meal into a social, enjoyable experience rather than just a routine. Sequoia Grove also offers outstanding amenities, including a library, chapel, gym, game room and sports bar, a movie theater complete with a real popcorn machine, and a kitchen pantry where residents can grab snacks or ice cream anytime. Transportation is provided for medical appointments, shopping, and even monthly field trips, making it easy for residents to remain independent and active. What truly sets Sequoia Grove apart, however, is the people. On February 1st, my mom went into respiratory failure and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. During that first week, she was in critical condition on full life support. Over the following two months, she was hospitalized three more times, experiencing heart failure, kidney failure, a blood clot in her lungs, two rounds of pneumonia, and two UTIs. It was an extremely frightening and exhausting time for our family. During this period, my brother and sister traveled from out of town and were able to stay in my mom’s apartment at Sequoia Grove while we rotated hospital visits and caregiving shifts. Throughout it all, the staff and residents at Sequoia Grove showed an incredible outpouring of love and support. Cards were made, flowers were sent, and people regularly checked in to see how they could help. Several residents even visited her at the hospital, and one of the sales managers took the time to visit her in rehab. Their kindness was overwhelming and deeply moving. When my mom was first discharged from the hospital, she was sent to skilled nursing for rehab twice. Unfortunately, skilled nursing was not an ideal environment for her recovery. After her third hospitalization, we made the difficult decision to place her temporarily in a board and care facility. Because insurance does not cover boarding care, and only covers skilled nursing, we reluctantly put in notice on her apartment at Sequoia Grove. All my mom wanted was to get better and return to Sequoia Grove. When we explained the situation to management, they responded with compassion and incredible generosity. They truly went above and beyond because they consider my mom part of the Sequoia Grove family. Management worked with us to find her a different apartment closer to the amenities and offered a reduced rental rate for several months while she recovers. This allowed her to keep her place in the community and avoid paying a new community fee or starting over from scratch. Their willingness to support us during such a difficult time was nothing short of amazing. My family is immensely grateful for the care, flexibility, and genuine concern they showed for my mom’s well‑being. Sequoia Grove Gracious Retirement Living is an outstanding community filled with warmth, compassion, and life. I have complete peace of mind knowing my mom is surrounded by people who truly care. It’s so wonderful, I often joke that I would happily live there myself—if I were old enough! I wholeheartedly recommend Sequoia Grove to anyone searching for a vibrant, caring, and supportive retirement community.
