After extensive research and pavement pounding I decided the best place for my loved one was at a Family First home and I’ve been extremely pleased with that decision. The owners and caregivers treat my loved one like family by providing kind, compassionate and attentive care. The staff is very friendly and hands-on to insure his happiness and contentment. His needs are always promptly addressed and tended to. The house is clean, safe, and welcoming, with a “real home” vibe. The staff and owners are very approachable and keep me well informed.

I can’t thank Chris and Julie enough and their staff for taking care of my dad! It was such a comfort to know he was in such great hands! When home care is no longer a good option, Family First is there with loving care! I can’t recommend them highly enough!❤️Thank you❤️

My mom just passed and I am grateful that I was able to spend the last few days of her life with her. I'm writing this review in hopes that other people don't have to go through what I did at Family First. My mom was sick when we got there. She had covid and the hospital did not want her there anymore. She wasn't contagious anymore. My mom needed help to shower. I was told she would get them several times when she did not. It was disappointing to watch the staff come and go, day after day and never give her a shower. I was told they were short of staff but it seemed like they just did not want to do it. One day I found myself with the job of helping others' loved ones, who definitely needed my assistance. They needed help because the staff was taking a 40 minute nap. When the staff member woke up, he made himself a sandwich and turned up the sound on his laptop to drown out the other televisions in the house. It was very loud and when I told that he should turn in down he turned it up instead. Then he got in my face to intimidate me. I informed management and I was treated differently after this point. This was not the only nap that my family witnessed but we stopped complaining because we didn't want them to take it out on my mom. She was weak and we really did not want to move her again. I was with her almost every day to keep an eye on her and the staff made a joke with a resident that they would be glad when my mom was dead and I would not be there anymore. I am not sure what happened exactly on the day when one of the patients wandered out onto main road. She walked away for miles. Luckily, hours later, a family member of a different client recognized her walking down the road and they brought her back. She was ok but could have easily gone another way. I'm not sure they ever realized she was gone until she was brought back. Take notice that sometimes they enforce their visiting hours and make you leave at 7. If your lucky you can stay a little bit longer. ONLY when you family member is in a coma and dying will they let you stay. Two nights before my mom passed she was having major issues with her bowels . I was with her and tried my best to clean her but I needed help. When I asked for help I was told no . Twice. The first time, at 6:30 I was told that they were changing shifts and I would have to wait. Shift change was at 6:50 when the new staff member go there and my mom couldn't wait. She was in pain and wanted to be on the toilet. I got her onto the wheel chair, into the bathroom and onto the toilet by myself. I asked again for help, much louder and for the second time the staff member told me no. She yelled that she wouldn't help because she had just cleaned her an hour ago. I yelled back that I could not control her bowel moments and that it was more like two and an half hours before but that didn't matter. My mom was dying and she wouldn't help me. So I took my mom back to her room to clean her when the two staff members followed me into the room. Now the were very aggressive. The original staff member, at least five times said she was going to call the police because visiting hours ended at 7:00. It was 7:10. She threatened me over and over while the other body checked me and pushed me out of the way. I lifted my hands and stepped away from their assault. She took over cleaning my mom at that point while the other one was yelling at me to leave. My mom died two days later. NO I would not recommend this place at all. If you do end up hiring them you should brushed up on your Swahili so their non-Christian West African Staff can understand you. Oh and don't even get me started about the awful food they serve.

You might be tasked with one of the most difficult and emotional decisions of your life. That decision is where to place a loved one for 24-hour care and in our case, end of life support. I would ask you to visit the Family First office and meet the owners and marketing director to have a better understanding of who and what they represent. Visit one of their beautiful homes nestled in the woods, talk to the staff and see firsthand the care involved. Do this and I believe you will understand why they are so highly rated. Our experience was outstanding. All aspects of care, contracts, finances and other items were covered in detail. All questions were answered, and communication was always on time. The home staff were very attentive and worked seamlessly with Hospice. The home was kept very clean; meals were homemade, and staff always accommodated us during visiting hours. I highly recommend Family First for your loved ones needs.
