We lost our Mom to a fall 1 1/2 years ago ( 2 weeks after the fall ) I got 5 different stories of what happened . One gal told me she got hit by a mattress being brought into another room and it was a whole different wing. This happened right after lunch . She did not have her walker & was not brought to her room by a staff member like they said she was . There was plenty of staff that day . I got there 5 minutes after the incident, they told me not to go into the room , I heard Mom screaming & went in . She was naked from the waist up & sitting directly in front of the ac unit with it cranked up . Mom hated cold ! I asked what was going on & the 4 staff members all looked at each other . Couldn’t give me a straight answer. One staff member was pulling Moms arm straight up in the air & Mom was screaming , I said stop something’s wrong , she’s in a lot of pain . One replied she’s overreacting & due to her dementia she doesn’t know what’s going on , Mom said help , this is my daughter Bonnie help me !! I said we are taking her to the hospital , we tried getting her in my car & they were very forceful , I said stop ! She needs an ambulance, she got to the hospital & had a broken shoulder & was bruised on her ribs as well . Mom deteriorated rapidly & we lost her 2 weeks later at the nursing home . The duration of that was very unprofessional as well with staff & handling of the family dynamics & certain staff members becoming involved in that and voicing unprofessional words to our family instead of caring for our Mother . Other issues we had was meals , we would show up & Mom was not at the table as she should’ve been & meals were skipped & given ensure on her table instead. Many times I went in & her bed was filthy from donuts & snacks she was laying on & they were hard as if there for days . We said no snacks in bed for a reason since she had dementia & would often fall asleep eating them laying down & could choke .They had an administrator & she left right after Mom was admitted , then didn’t have anyone for months . We paid for Moms hair to get done & a month later still not done ( she passed away either her hair not done ) The billing was a nightmare for my brother, everyone was clueless ! I lived an hour away & moved her from a facility ( due to family dynamics) which was only 30 minutes from me . I wish I would’ve never !
