About Current River Rehabilitation & Health Care Center

Current River Rehabilitation & Health Care Center is a 120-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Doniphan, Missouri, offering wound care, therapy, and end-of-life support.

Most families describe attentive nursing staff who treat residents like family members and work persistently toward recovery goals. Several reviewers highlighted strong therapy services and responsiveness to questions. However, experiences vary significantly: some families report their loved ones received excellent, hands-on care, while one family noted concerns about neglect when visitors weren't present daily, citing instances of soiled linens left in rooms and inadequate hygiene practices. A few reviewers mentioned staffing inconsistencies, with some caregivers appearing disengaged.

Food quality was praised in reviews, though one family noted their hospice resident was too ill to eat. The facility allowed extended visiting hours during end-of-life care, which families appreciated. One family wrote, "They really worked hard to get her back on her feet."

Current River holds a 4.5/5 Google rating across 13 reviews, reflecting mixed but generally positive experiences. Family involvement and choice of staff appear to influence outcomes.

Love this place. My family is well taken care of and most of the staff is amazing. Would recommend dealing solely with the ladies and you will get anything needed taken care of swiftly and politely.

I'm currently staying here temporarily to receive wound care on a diabetic foot ulcer and see my podiatrist.
98% of the staff are wonderful, though there are a few who are clearly only there for a paycheck and act like they earn it just by clocking in sitting down in the area they are assigned to, and then clocking out whenever their shift is over. That & the fact that there are too few CNAs working a shift for the amount of bed confined residents who require 2 CNAs to transfer them to a bedside commode or wheelchair, change them or their bed linens, so if they are busy with one of those residents, if another resident needs them for anything, they are unavailable.
I have had other residents who have told me that they have waited anywhere from 1-2 hours for someone to come to check on them after they had pushed the button to turn on their call light.
