Visited my daughter in Crown Park today 7/5/26. I found the place to very clean, absolutely no unpleasant odor. The staff was friendly, smiled even thought they weren’t even involved in her care at the time. I was very favorably impressed.

This is a nursing home/ rehab center, and I think they do a great job in very demanding circumstances. The halls and rooms are neat and clean, the food looks really good and prepared with care. I really appreciate the staff and hope difficult their job is. I don't have a ton of experience with these places, but if the four different ones I have visited, Crown is easily the best!

My 86-year-old mother was recently a resident at Crown Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cortland while on comfort care with Hospice, and I am deeply disappointed in the facility’s communication, accountability, and overall professionalism. Injuries were not disclosed to family. Hospice informed me that my mother had a skin tear on her elbow—the nursing home did not notify me or my brother. The next day, a family friend visited and saw a bruise/lump on my mother’s forehead. When I asked what happened, I received two different stories from staff: one person said she fell out of a chair around 2:00 a.m., and another said she hurt herself trying to get out of bed. My mother was bedridden and unable to walk independently, so these conflicting explanations were extremely concerning. I repeatedly asked for basic information—what day the fall happened, how it happened, and what was done afterward—and I still did not get a clear, consistent answer. I requested a copy of the incident report and was refused. When I met with staff, I again raised the obvious lump on her head and asked whether she had been evaluated by a doctor. Initially, I was told no doctor had seen her; later I was told a doctor saw her that afternoon, but I was never informed of the findings. The attitude from the social worker and supervisor was dismissive and snide, and I did not feel anyone was advocating for my mother. On top of the care concerns, the business office attempted to get me to sign paperwork that appeared as though it could make me financially responsible for my mother’s bills. Families should be extremely cautious and read everything closely. A few days later, my mother passed away. The facility called me (I was on a plane) and then called my brother. They pressured him to immediately name a funeral home because “she couldn’t stay there,” despite the fact that, as healthcare proxy, I had already arranged everything through Hospice. This caused unnecessary confusion and stress at an already painful time. Crown Park later admitted it was a mistake and said they would “handle it with training,” but I still had to fix the situation and arrange transport to the correct funeral home. Instead of taking responsibility, the facility attempted to shift blame. Finally, the funeral home was supposed to receive required documentation within 72 hours, but it took 8 days. When your loved one is at the end of life, you need compassionate, competent, and transparent care. That is not what my family experienced here. Based on what we went through, I do not recommend Crown Park.

A friend has been receiving inpatient rehab for about 3 weeks. The staff has been professional, friendly and caring. Especially standing out, is employee Jacob who is very positive and encouraging as he assists the patients and makes sure they are safely taken care of. Crown Park exceeded my expectations!
