I recently toured Commonwealth Senior Living in Kilmarnock while looking for a memory care facility for my mother. The staff who gave me the tour were friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated their kindness.
However, after spending some time near the memory care unit, I left with serious concerns. I overheard employees expressing frustration about being short-staffed and saying they hoped no more residents would be admitted because they were already overwhelmed. I also witnessed what appeared to be the Resident Care Director speaking to an employee in a way that I found disrespectful and unprofessional.
Based on what I personally observed, I did not feel confident that this would be the right environment for my mother. Staffing levels and the way employees are treated can have a direct impact on the quality of care residents receive. Because of my experience, I decided not to move forward with this facility.
