Today, my mother and I visited this senior center to learn more about its programs and services. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. I approached the woman at the front desk and politely asked if this was the senior center. Instead of greeting us or offering assistance, she looked at us with obvious disapproval and responded in a cold and dismissive manner. When I requested a brochure, she handed it to me silently, without providing any information, offering a tour of the facility, or making any effort to help us. Throughout the interaction, we were treated with a noticeable lack of courtesy, professionalism, and respect. As Asian visitors, we could not help but feel that we were being treated differently because of our ethnicity. The behavior we experienced gave us a strong impression of discrimination and made us feel unwelcome and excluded. A senior center should be a place where all members of the community are treated with dignity and respect. Sadly, that was not our experience. We left feeling disappointed, uncomfortable, and deeply discouraged. Based on this experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this center to others.
