Everybody at Brookdale Montclair Poulsbo is compassionate and effective. They created a wonderful environment for my mother's last years. There are a lot of activities for the residents and anyone who wants to can have a full life there. I can recommend it to anyone whose loved one needs help. My mother recently passed and everyone from the Executive Director Adam down to the nurses and orderlies was so kind and thoughtful. They took charge and made it easy on us.

Our situation is pretty unique. My Aunt came to Brookdale from a facility in California to be closer to family. The management at Brookdale has done a great job in helping our family navigate everything that it has taken to work with the fiduciaries, medical care, and everything that had to happen to make the move. I was a CNA in California and have found the care at Brookdale to be excellent. One thing that I really like is how Brookdale has employees that are working under the guidance of trained professionals and they are seeking their own higher level certifications as RNs and CNAs. In today's times, learning institutions are doing a great job at helping our society. My Aunt is in the memory care side of Brookdale. I am so happy that they are completely accommodating to allow un fettered open access to come and go as we please around the clock. They work with us to schedule outings and ensure that we are aware of any medication impacts. The facility at Brookdale in Poulsbo is fantastic. The areas established for the residents are many. My Aunt's and our favorite is the 'coffee shop' where there is hot coffee, snacks, and what my Aunt loves most, fresh daily papers from Kitsap Sun and Seattle Times. There are also hundreds of books with extra large print available for reading. The activities are also something that I did not expect. What caused me to write this review was that today when we stopped by, my Aunt was working with a group who were making Valentine cards and putting flower arrangements together in vases. Above and beyond! This means so much. It is also wonderful to have the in house beauty shop. Deborah is great and being able to get the manicures and haircuts there is appreciated. I need to give first name shout outs and thanks to the management and staff who have helped us. You have also made an impression on my parents and brought peace of mind for optional care for them near family should it be necessary. Thanks Adam, Heidi, Jason, Kristi, Aymi, Deborah, Bethany, and Michelle.

Happy New Year, 2013, to the staff and administrators at Montclair Park. My mother's care has been exceptional. She is happy and thriving in spite of severe memory loss. We don't live near mothers so can only visit infrequently. In spite of that, the adminstration and staff has been very supportive and makes sure there are no serious gaps in her care. Thanks to staff and administrators at Montclair Park, and keep up the good work! We appreciate you!

When it was determined that my mom needed additional care, I looked around for places close to where I lived. I found Montclair Park a mere 10 minutes away, took the tour, talked to the staff and was very pleased at what I saw. Within three weeks of my visit, I had my Mom moved in to a one bedroom apartment (that she picked out herself) that she absolutely loves! She tells me every time I see her how much she LOVES her new home. She has been there 7 months so far. The administrative staff is so friendly and attentive and the nursing staff and aides have acted professionally and given my mom the respect and dignity that we all want our aging parents to have. The fact that my Mom now has other people to talk to and is no longer alone has improved her health considerably. I know there are other places in the community, such as Martha and Mary, but I found Montclair Park to be more affordable and its beautiful location, social activities, and professional care met all the criteria I needed for my mom. The meals are usually quite good and they have monthly food meetings where the residents can request changes to the menu. There are many family activities where family can participate with the residents. There is a 24 hour always open ice cream parlor for residents and guests, a movie room for viewing movies, a community room for Bingo, card games, watching TV and much more. There is a Country Store, a Beauty Salon and a room where coffee, tea, popcorn, and donuts are available while working the daily crossword puzzle or reading the paper. Small pets are allowed which is extra special for those seniors who don't want to lose their beloved pet. Another thing I like is that as my mom's needs change, there is a tiered system that can add services as she needs them. This means that it is highly likely that she can remain there for the rest of her life, even if her mobility changes or her mental capabilities change. I highly recommend Montclair Park for anyone who is faced with needing a place for their aging loved ones. It truly feels like a community there.

Montclair Park/Haven Crest may have a nice view and allows the choice of room size with kitchens, living rooms, etc. but their care is not the best. Montclair Park/Haven Crest allows people who are NOT certified nursing assistants to take care of your loved one, which means they were not properly trained by the state and have not been properly trained by the facility. Most employees are frazzled working way past their work load and cannot give the attention and the best care to your loved one. Again, don't be fooled by the amazing view of the mountains or how your loved one can make their room more like home. When picking a place for a loved one, think of the care your loved one is going to get. Make sure they're not treated solely as a job and that they won't get a say in their care plan. After all, they're still people and need to be treated as such. With that said, I recommend Martha & Mary in Poulsbo.
