Exceptionally disappointing and disturbing management action to suddenly, with less than 24 hours notice, remove a kind and capable caregiver who has spent 2 days/24 hours weekly with a cognitively clear but physically challenged 96 year old in care with BrightStar since January, 2026.

There was no notice, no farewell, no closure for either the carer or the cared for. This was extremely upsetting, extremely, to the individual in care as well as the family.

Several hours elapsed before calls to the agency were returned. When directly questioned by the author of this review, a representative of the agency laid the sudden notification at the feet of the caregiver. The family believes this to be highly unlikely.

The agency has received tens of thousands of dollars for these services in this time period. The management staff presented professionally and confidently in the beginning and the caregivers themselves ranged from good to excellent, with management partnering with the individual and family to find needed services and caregivers. The licensed professional caregivers were generally particularly impressive. There were occasional lapses in communication and a few dropped balls, understandable and almost inevitable in these situations involving people, but nothing previously like this.

This situation could have been proactively and thoughtfully addressed. It was not.

The first notice of the situation was received on the Sunday afternoon prior to the caregivers previously scheduled 7:00 am Monday visit. The same caregiver had left as usual at 7:00 pm the previous Friday.

Despite the history, relationships, and unfailing payments, the agency left the individual and family feeling bereaved and bereft.

There is a marked opportunity for improvement here. This review is left in hopes it will receive due attention from those able to learn from it so that others will, in future, be less likely to suffer in this way.

Brightstar management, the shame falls on you but the pain on those who put their trust in you.
