We live across the street from one of their care patients. They have come to our home 3 times in the last thee days. Once before 8am, then last night at 8:30 pm, and tonight at 8:00 pm. The last one, Camille, came tonight and refused to for me then number for the agency. I had to look up the information on my own. Another rude employee, Amanda, called. She constantly interrupted, would not let me explain the situation. We have a tenant here who does not want to be disturbed. And they keep sending their caregivers to the wrong address after being told not to 3 times. If you have someone in your family that needs care DO NOT HIRE THEM. If they can’t even get their staff to the correct address and can’t be civil when someone lets them know 3 times they’re in the wrong place, how can they properly care for your loved one? To make things worse, the person last night mentioned the client’s name and discussed her health issues. This is a HIPPA violation. I will be reporting it to them as well. They should not be sharing PHI.

A few months ago after my mother fell and refused to be admitted to the hospital, I watched her health decline, literally minute by minute, to the point that she lay in her bed without movement due to heavy meds. I don’t know anything about medicine or patient care and was so afraid that something terrible was going to happen. That’s when I called Bright Star. I remember it was late, around 8:00 p.m. and the answering service took a message and told me that the head nurse, Alicia Pottratz would contact me in the morning. Much to my surprise, just minutes later, Alicia was on the phone with me. It literally brought me to tears. She was so helpful and kind, asking questions to determine my mother’s current condition. I instantly felt a weight come off when I could hear that she was so knowledgeable and really cared. The next morning, Alicia met me at my parent’s house and evaluated my mom. She told me with all sincerity that if it was her mom, she would bring her to the hospital. Alicia talked to my mom about her fear and learned that what she was really afraid of were the paramedics and how she was worried they would be rough. Alicia assured her that they would not be rough as long as she was there. My mom agreed to go and Alicia stayed by her side as promised until the paramedics arrived and drove away. That might be the end of my story but it was far from over. Alicia invited me to call her if I had any questions. Over the next few weeks that my mother spent in a skilled nursing facility, Alicia was there for me and my family. She took numerous calls first from me, then from my brother, and my father. I honestly cannot say enough about Alicia. She was there for us when we really needed help. She genuinely cared. Alicia helped me make arrangements to get a hospital bed and other necessities to the house. When my mom was released, Alicia and a caregiver from Bright Star were waiting outside her door when she got home. Alicia made sure everything was in place for her care and comfort. She is absolutely amazing and I can’t thank her enough for being there in our time of need.

The best decision I ever made was to engage Brightstar, specifically Alicia Pottratz and her team. Save yourself a lot of headaches and select their services. Alicia runs a tight ship and her team has delivered more than 15,000 hours of skilled nursing care to my father and literally saved his life. Prior to engaging Brightstar, we had 4 years of nursing care from other agencies and consistently had problems and were dissatisfied with many of their staff. In the course of the care of my father, I have personally interacted with more than 700 different nurses and Alicia and her team are quite simply the best. When they are on site, I breathe more easily and I am able to tend to being a son instead of being saddled with healthcare challenges. Alicia is kind, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled and selfless in her care of Dad and the supervision of her team. Quite simply stated – Alicia is an amazing nurse and human being, a blessing to us all! Her team shines almost as brightly as Alicia and every member of the team is greatly appreciated by us. I would call them out by name, but selfishly don’t because then you would be requesting them and Dad’s team is booked! However, Amanda the office administrator and head of HR does a great job of recruiting new team members and I’m sure she will find the perfect nurses to meet your needs.

Alicia Pottratz has done an amazing job of taking care of my father. Not only does she take care of his medical needs she is also a very talented cook and keeps him company. She makes the best lasagna he has ever had. This has been a lonely time for many seniors that can't get together safely with family. It's rare to find a nurse that not only knows the medication but enjoys spending time with the people she takes care of. Be sure to ask for Alicia.
