I would like to personally thank everyone at Avantara for all the care and concern they showed my mother-in-law, Charlene Metcalf, while she was in their care.

It’s difficult and emotional to watch a loved one pass on, leaving us behind. Although my husband and I, my children, visited 2-3 times a day, almost every day, it was ultimately the staff who spent the majority of their time with her. Towards the end I started to see and understand how much they all loved my husband’s Mother and how much she loved them.. Residents would come and say hello to her, and have conversations, everyone would wave as they passed by her room.
Every single person who was a part of her staff, all took the time to get to know her. She had come to be known for her humor, especially on bad days, her stubborn perseverance, as she would not give up easily, her sweetness, as she always asked how you were doing first before she would tell you how she was doing.
When the time came, I was just so surprised to see the effect her passing had on so many people, those who lived there and those who worked there. There were tough times, and painful days, but despite the rough spots, I stood there and saw hearts go out to her.

I would also like to personally thank everyone for their support, to me, and to my family, to my youngest child who was so deeply saddened to see his grandmother getting weaker. The emotional support we received from so many; sitting with us by her side, listening to us and showing understanding when we thought we could control a situation we had no control over. Giving us advice on what to expect and what to do next.

I sincerely feel, Avantara and its staff, who dedicate themselves to the work they do, do not truly get the credit they deserve for all their hard work and devotion. This work takes heart, and I saw and felt the hearts of so many there.

Thank you

I had to remove my mother from this house of horrors. A CNA named Patience Flahn was caught roughing up my mother as I walked in the room. I filed numerous grievance but I have a feeling the facility is hiding it from the state. From what I observed spending a day with my mother may of the residents and even the staff seemed to be disturbed by her. Very unprofessional.
