Had ORIF surgery and my surgeon wanted this company to visit me. I got a call a few days later from a young woman. I answered and was shocked how rude she was. She asked me "Do you still "need" this service?" I was confused because I literally came home from the hospital 4 days prior. I told her I just had surgery and wasn't sure what was needed. She didn't explain or guide me through why I may need their services. I told her I will see my surgeon in two weeks to remove staples and I suppose I will call back to see if I "need" their services. I doubt I will call them back. If that is how they treat patients over the phone, I worry how I will be treated in my home.

When the nurse arrived she couldnt get out of her car. After she finally crawled out, she complained she had a bad knee and needed her walker. Honestly, she looked older than me and Im 75. I told her to go. I already have a disabled person to care for.

When I first seen Waseem , Physical Therapist in January he took the time to talk about what my goals were and what he can do to help me achieve them. I was on oxygen for 5 months with very high heart rate. After 6 visits with him , I was completely off the oxygen with low heart rate where it should be. I am feeling the best , my anxiety is gone and I am enjoying life with out oxygen. My family and I owe him big for giving this quality of life.

My mother was in and out of the hospital with so many health issues, and we felt like we had no hope! Once we got set up Amedisys we started to have hope again! Waseem (the PT) has been the best thing for my mom's health in years by far! His positive, caring approach is just what we needed! We count him as a blessing to our family!

Yes. Amedisys Home Health Care is a Medicare-certified home health agency, so Medicare Part A or Part B pays in full for skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide visits when a doctor orders them and the patient is homebound. There is no copay for covered home health visits. Medicare rates the agency's quality of patient care 4.5 out of 5 stars.
For Medicare to pay, yes: a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant must certify that care is needed and sign a plan of care. Families can call the agency first, and the agency will usually contact the doctor to arrange the order. Ongoing help with bathing, meals and companionship is a different service, non-medical home care, which needs no referral.
