About Amedisys Home Health Care

Amedisys Home Health Care in Sumter, South Carolina provides skilled nursing, therapy and other services to help patients recovering from illness, injury or surgery, as well as those living with chronic health conditions. The home health care team, available on-call 24/7 for urgent needs, includes nurses, home health aides, social workers, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists who work collaboratively with patients, families and doctors to develop individualized plans of care.

The community offers nursing care including pain management, monitoring and education; physical therapy to build strength, balance and endurance; occupational therapy to assist with daily tasks and home modifications; and speech therapy for communication and swallowing issues. Medical social workers serve as advocates, coordinating care with the healthcare team and providing counseling and referrals to local resources. Specialized wound care is also provided to promote healing and reduce complications.

Amedisys offers several specialized home health programs tailored to specific conditions. These include a COPD program providing education, support and tools to manage symptoms at home; a heart failure program designed to reduce symptoms and keep patients at home rather than in the hospital; a fall prevention program that assesses risk factors and strengthens patients in their home environment; and a diabetes management program combining skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide services.

Home health care visits are scheduled based on individual plans of care developed by the patient's doctor with the clinical team. Initial visits typically occur within 24 hours of hospital or nursing facility discharge. A nurse or therapist conducts a thorough assessment on the first visit to identify areas where patients may benefit from education and tools to manage their health. The frequency and type of visits are adjusted as necessary to provide the best care for each patient's needs.

Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance plans typically cover the cost of home health care for eligible patients. Amedisys serves the broader region including Aiken, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Edgefield, Lee, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland and Saluda counties in addition to Sumter.

Professional and friendly care from highly trained clinicians. Located right here in Sumter since 2005! According to locals and the Center for Medicare Services, we are the best Sumter and the surrounding counties have to offer. We appreciate your trust in us!

I kind of had the same review as a lady 4 years ago so nothing really has changed. The nurse really does not come out and take care of your needs. I needed a cream. Couldn't get it ended up with open wounds. Social worker. No I was struggling mentally. Did nothing about it.PT was not very friendly. The female OT was wonderful caring and did take her time with me. Brandon brandon the male OT was not concerned at all with my frustration and emotional state when I could not put lift up the peg to put in hole. I Do not recommend them.I have 4 surgeries to go and I pray to God.There's a better home health care place to take care of me
