My best friends grandparents was a resident here while they recovered from their knee surgery. Very clean facility. We are grateful for the activity staff for being so inclusive to residents needs and making them feel comfortable during the holidays since they were not able to be home.

It is unacceptable that this facility fails to provide a safe and respectful environment for personal property at Alamitos West Heath & Rehabilitation. Over the days of my Mother’s admission, she has had her personal clothing—disappeared/stolen from her room. We took inventory, labeled all items, and even went as far as taking her laundry home and her items still went missing. When I brought attention to this matter I was told to look in the "lost and found" and of course I had no luck finding her items. If anything, her clothes weren't lost ... They were taken during routine changes. Its so sad and disappointing to know that any nursing aides or patient care technicians would even consider taking advantage of the helpless-disabled elderly and feel comfortable enough in their position to take from them. My advice would be to leave any nice/new matching outfits especially items of value home. And instead use any old worn stained clothes to dress your loved ones in if they stay at this rehabilitation center.

My mom, 92 years old, broke her left leg on July 1, 2024. After being hospitalized, she moved to Alamito West Health and Rehabilitation, where she received long-term care for 17 months. I visited several days each week to help my mom, and during that time I came to know many of the wonderful, friendly people who work there. From the administration team—Yanira, Natasha in the front office and Andrea in insurance/financial services, to the nurses and CNAs, many of whom have dedicated 10, 20, even 30+ years to this facility, the staff showed remarkable commitment. The nurses and CNAs, in particular, were consistently responsible, kind, and attentive to patients. I especially want to recognize Nurse Priscilla (7 a.m.–3 p.m.), Nurse Alora (3–11 p.m.), and CNAs Christabal, Rubin, Maria, and Oscar. My mom weighs about 140 pounds and requires daily transfers to her wheelchair so she can go to the dining hall for lunch. The staff ensured she was always clean and comfortable, preventing any skin issues. Their hard work and care meant so much to us The only challenge I observed was when there weren’t enough full-time CNAs available. In those cases, temporary CNAs from outside agencies were brought in. Unfortunately, many of them did the bare minimum and relied heavily on the regular staff, which doubled the workload for the dedicated CNAs. This situation created stress for nurses, patients, and the hardworking CNAs alike. Another highlight of Alamito West is the rehabilitation center, led by Scott. My mom received excellent physical therapy from Scott and Bill, and after one year she was able to walk 20 feet with a walker—a huge milestone. We also appreciated the meals and activities. Lunch was consistently good, and the facility offered a wide variety of daily activities. Decorations changed almost every month, keeping the environment cheerful and engaging. The activity leaders were always kind and welcoming. I truly miss the team at Alamito West. They are wonderful people who made a difficult time much brighter.

Great staff! Physical therapist were wonderful. Nurses were attentive and came in a reasonable amount of time when called. Clean and the outside patio was fantastic to have a place to visit with friends and family that came by.

Alamitos West took great care of my Grandmother during a really difficult time. From day one, the staff made us feel welcome and kept us updated on how things were going. The nurses and CNAs were all kind, patient, and really seemed to care about their work. The building was always clean, and any time we had a question or needed something, someone was there to help. It’s never easy to trust someone else with your family’s care, but I left feeling like she was in good hands. I’m grateful for the support we received and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Alamitos West to other families.
