This is a beautiful location and the staff are friendly. That's about all I can say good about this place. While the rooms are kept mostly clean, on multiple occasions I found a disturbing lack of cleanliness. A Halloween pumpkin had been left to rot long enough to be moldy in my grandmothers room. The food was also a constant problem. While grandma did get fed, the meals were bizarre. Sometimes getting breakfast and lunch foods for dinner. Grandma had pancakes and a hotdog for dinner one night. The food isn't fresh, unless you count prepackaged costco box meals fresh. The owner of the facility is absentee and is the only trained RN. She has delegated her narcotic and daily medication delivery to non-trained staff. One of whom spent most of the time sleeping on the couch or playing on her phone. When COVID hit she went from being an owner, to a warden of a Sr. living prison. For almost a year, we were only allowed to visit our grandma from the porch. We brought her a meal every Sunday and while she sat in their dining room inside, my family would sit outside on the porch and use our cell phones to speak to each other. The staff would routinely make that difficult by running the dryer during our visits which would put out hot air and lint all over our food and my children. I complained multiple times to both the staff and the owner with little change. After being ignored multiple times, I had to go to the side of the house to turn off the breaker for the dryer to stop it. Posted on the door was a sign barring all visitors including healthcare workers (photo included)! A year later, visitation restrictions well beyond the CDC guidelines were being implemented for most/some visitors, but not staff. And those restrictions were not applied to all residents equally. Some were completely cut off from visitors and healthcare workers and other residents left with family for hair and nail appointments. A week before my grandmother passed away in April 2021, the owner barred all visitations from from all families in all of her homes. The owner cited the cost and availability of PPE for COVID precautions even though every time I did get to visit, the staff there followed ZERO precautions. No masks, no gloves, not even hand sanitizer between visiting patients in different rooms. The staff came and went from the facility without so much as checking in or washing their hands before preparing food and medication. It wasn't until early April that they required adult visitors to show their vaccine card, but never took temperatures or asked safety questions. My 7 year old daughter was invited in by a staff member once, but in the middle of the visit the owner called the staff and threatened that all visitation would be cut off if I ever brought her back. I turned the whole thing into the Ombudsman and California licensing, but it was already too late. My grandmother had to die alone without friends or family to comfort her because the owner of this facility has zero compassion for those under her care. STAY AWAY from this horror house if you want the peace of mind that compassion is important.
