I put my brother there a week ago. He has Parkinsons and arrived there at 11 am dazed and confused. By 4 pm, his entire attitude changed. He wasn't confused and was excited about his room. Beautiful picture window, spacious and he feels like he is at The Ritz Carlton. He said the food is amazing and the caregivers are very diligent and give him his meds right on time. It's an amazing senior care facility and I feel very blessed that my brother is being cared for. Wonderful activities every day and he couldn’t be in better hands.

I recently attended a fantastic community event at the Preserve, where Jake Levine, who is running for Congress, spoke to residents and families. The event was held in their beautiful courtyard and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I was so impressed with the entire facility, which is clean and so well maintained, but most of all I was blown away by how caring and attentive the caregivers were to their residents...continuously checking on them and making sure they were comfortable. I would highly recommend checking out this warm and welcoming community.

We are senior downsizing and relocation experts and this is a great community in Woodland Hills/Canoga Park area. Their assisted living and memory care are intertwined, so there is a very free flowing feeling about the community. The studio apartments are quite spacious and the caregivers are wonderful. Susan the executive director loves what she does and it shows!

The Preserve was my last stop on a long day of touring facilities in extreme valley heat. I was looking for a place for my father who is on the younger side of dementia's unfortunate victims. He needed to move within a week and was fairly active. Happiness of Residents: When I first toured The Preserve the thing that stood out to me most was the happiness of the residents. When I walked into The Preserve the residents were all out of their rooms and actively involved in activities or conversations in the common areas. The Preserve credits their Montessori based method for this. I think their methods are amazing and super helpful, but I think there are other factors too, which I will explain below. Nicest staff, great care and fantastic food: My dad tells me daily that everyone there, staff and residents alike, is super nice. This is after five years of him living in my home telling me how he hated everyone (in our home, at the store, everywhere). This tells me two things (1) they are super nice, and (2) they know how to handle and treat memory care residents. The staff is very on top of the care of the residents. They help my dad logon to video appointments, make sure he has what he needs and help him keep his room clean and himself groomed. Their chef has an occult following. I am told that he is the greatest cook ever and every person you talk to on staff or residents will tell you his food is awesome. Seriously. Where have you seen this in assisted living before? Bedrooms not Apartments: I believe that their bedroom (not apartments) setup helps lure residents out to mingle with others. Residents socialize in the common areas, use the courtyard, and participate in activities. The rooms feel like home bedrooms and have space for a nice armchair or couch, but prevent people from just closing themselves off as often. A different kind of "Locked Down" Facility: While The Preserve has both assisted living and memory care, the memory care residents are not locked down separately. Instead, the entire facility is locked down and those who can come and go are granted exit with a knock or by staff. This type of lock down is far more comfortable (IMO), and builds a larger sense of community. This was a huge selling point for me as my dad wants to be out talking to people and can have conversations where you have no idea he has dementia. Receptive to Feedback: Susan is an amazing ED, Tony is a spectacular nurse (yes, a male nurse is a HUGE selling point), and everyone I have ever talked to has been receptive to feedback. I can't say enough wonderful things about The Preserve. They are wonderful, have been great to work with and have been so flexible and accommodating.

My mother has been a resident there since July 2023. We chose The Preserve because of the size and the layout. Instead of being locked up on some floor for dementia and Alzheimer’s, everyone is free to move about the one story building and sit in the lovely garden outside. Although the last year has been bumpy with all the staff changes, the current management is excellent. It’s wonderful to go on Facebook and see a picture of mom enjoying one of the many activities they provide. With all the different nationalities and religions they try to celebrate all holidays. Prior to moving into The Preserve, we had live in help and mom wouldn’t leave her bed. When we go to visit now, we have to track her down find her lol. She gets up every day, she dresses and she eats with everyone in the dining room. She’s doing really well. The new chef provides a variety of many wonderful meals. Since mom doesn’t go out much, we have celebrated family birthdays with up to 15 people in the activity room. I would highly recommend The Preserve to anyone!
