What is it?
Assisted Living is for seniors who need a little more assistance than residents in independent living communities. McKnight Place Assisted Living has programs and team members in place who can provide assistance with everything from daily living and basic care to recreational activities and transportation. Seniors with significant physical or cognitive challenges may need the intensive hands-on medical care that skilled-nursing care or a memory-care community can provide.

Memory Care
McKnight Place provides a person-centered approach that’s designed to help Memory Care residents feel a sense of belonging and purpose, while still preserving their identity and individuality. Our memory care residents live in a safe and secure apartment-like environment surrounded by their peers and nurturing staff members. They will also participate in daily, research-based skill building activities, while also enjoying hobbies and pursuing their passions.
What is it?
Where Assisted Living is for seniors who are relatively independent, Memory Care is a specialized level of assisted care for seniors living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Memory care communities feature safe and secure environments where staff can closely monitor the health of the residents. Staff are specially trained to provide the quality care needed for seniors with memory loss. In addition, residents will participate in find programs, activities, and events that are designed to help memory care residents work on their cognitive abilities.
Is it right for me/my family?
Deciding when to consider memory care is a very personal decision. Everyone’s situation is different. People experience dementia and memory loss in different ways, which can make it difficult to know when the time is right to consider professional care. But, there are a few things you should think through if you’re considering memory care for yourself or a loved one.
Caring for an aging loved one isn’t always easy, and it can be especially challenging when they have a condition that progresses over time. How much does it cost?
The cost for memory care covers daily care, apartment, social activities, meals and so much more. Because our residents are unique individuals, we work together with their families and healthcare providers to design a personalized care plan.
Skilled Nursing
McKnight Place Extended Care provides skilled nursing and support services for seniors who can no longer function day-to-day without assistance and when Assisted Living can no longer meet their needs. It also provides support and care for those with complex diagnoses, extenuating circumstances, and/or multiple challenges.
We also offer Memory Care for those residents needing skilled care but also requiring support with Alzheimer’s, memory loss, and other dementia-related illnesses.
What is it?
Skilled nursing can be two different types of care: short-term rehabilitation care, which is focused on recovery after illness or surgery, and long-term or extended care if you or a loved one is facing chronic conditions and need around-the-clock nursing care on an on-going basis
Skilled nursing communities provide healthcare resources such as physical, occupational and speech therapy, in a supportive environment with a skilled nursing team providing 24/7 licensed nursing care.
When to consider?
Skilled nursing provides the most comprehensive levels of care you can find within a senior living community. When both medical and personal care needs become too great to handle at home or in another senior living community due to a recent hospitalization or for serious or persistent health issues, you may want to consider skilled nursing.
How much does it cost?
