My experience is bitter sweet. I've been to the Marreri Center several times for Li Heap assistance only to be told by Ms Tiffany to call the first of the month, but like others who've sort out assistance, I too was told to call and no one answers. I've even call the Elmwood location when the funds were first available explaining my issue at the Marrero Center. The lady stated funds are available so she called the Marrero Center while placing me on hold only to click back over to tell me that I was correct when saying no one was picking up the phones. My daughter and I just stop in again June 3,2024 to inquire about the assistance again only to be told by Tiffany to call July first. I was upset telling her you gave me a card when I first been coming and no one calls,no one answers the phone and when I'm coming in I'm being told to call the first of the month. What's next? I'm going to hear,"NO FUNDS AVAILABLE"! My daughter was frustrated too. She was feeling like they're helping people they know instead of being fair. The assistance with Commodity is handled much better so if anyone is in need of food go apply for food assistance.

They really serve their community. They have all sorts of senior programs; food for families, veterans meetings, exercise programs, senior computer classes, etc. This is a wonderful out-reach center. You can also rent this facility for any party planning or bereavement gathering.
